I found another way to keep nosy inquistors at bay - I posted a sign at the gate to my property that said something like "This is a live fire zone. We target practice here frequently. If you do not have signed permission from the landowner specifying the date and time of your entry, you might be shot."
I had wooded acreage, and set up a target range visible from the gate, clearly showing the road was used as a target range.
They never bothered me after that.
