New Family History insights

The 1921 UK Census information was published today. I've taken a quick look at the records for my grandparents. For the time being, there's a charge for accessing the actual records online beyond doing a basic search. If you know what you're looking for, you should be able to see that you've got the right one before purchasing, but I imagine there'll be a few people who end up paying for the wrong thing. In time, the information will be made more freely available, but I was interested enough to fork out.

It's very strange to imagine, for example, my maternal grandfather as a 17 year old lad, already working as a Chocolate Worker at Cadbury's, the job he would do for another 43 years, but living with six of his siblings and his parents in a two-bedroomed terraced house.

I find that my paternal grandparents were each living at addresses that I didn't know about before, my other grandfather was working as a wages clerk at Cadbury's.

Both my grandmothers were still only 9 years old at this stage.

There'll be lots more to come out - I expect some of the details will prompt memories from my older uncles and aunts too.

Adjusting the overrewards.

thank you :)

My grandparents were around then. Could be some interesting data to be found. I did some family history a while back, but ought to do more.

Hope things are good with you.

Thanks Steve, all is well here, just getting used to being back at work after a lovely break. Hope you're well.

I'm good. Will be working from home for a while yet I suspect. I've managed to avoid the 'rona so far.
