Chapter 2
The green rolling hills of the Shire where peaceful in the wee hours of the morning. The gold morning g light was just starting to creep into the windows of a lavish but rather lonely Smial at the end of the road in Hobbition know as Bag-End. The inhabitants of which was just starting to stir in bed, awoken by the irritating sun light fliting in through his window.
Bilbo Baggins rolled over onto his back, eyes still stubbornly closed against the morning light. He let out an irrigated sigh, resigning to the fact that the wouldn't go away just because he wanted it to. Bilbo let out another sigh and opened his eyes to look up at the ceiling of his cabin, except it wasn't the ceiling of his cabin but the ceiling of his old bedroom in Bag-End. He blinked. Then he realized that not only was this the wrong ceiling but his eyes seemed to be working better then they had in years. He sat up and looked around, his eyes fell on mirror hanging on the open wardrobe door and what he saw reflected back at him made him gasp. He was staring at himself except it wasn't the face of an old man with wrinkles, grey hair and cloudy half-blind eyes. No it was the smooth face of a hobbit with thick golden curls and clear brown eyes. Bilbo pinched himself hard on the arm to check that he wasn't dreaming and he was sire that if he was dead that he wouldn't have felt pain of the pinch, but since he could, indeed, feel the stinging pain nor did the seen around him change he concluded the he was booth awake and alive. Though this diud nothing but confuse him more, then he suddenly remembered what he had been thinking about the night before. Bilbo Suddenly leapt from his bed (only briefly thinking about how agile he still was) and ran over to his calendar hastily checking the date.25/04. If this really was the date then Gandalf would be coming by his smial in just a few short hours to ask if he wanted to go on an adventure with thirteens dwarves, one of which he would grow to fall in love with. Bilbo broke down in sobs. He hand been given another chance! He had been given the chance to try and save his dwarves! Bilbos face split into a wide smile under his tears, allowing himself a moment to simply be happy at opportunity he had been given.
But then that moment ended. Bilbo resolutely wiped his face free of tears. He had to prepare for the upcoming journey. He stalked out of his room and into his study, he sat down at his desk and grabbed quill, ink pot, and parchment. First he wrote a letter to his cousin Drogo asking him if he could look after Bag-End while he was gone and to not let the Sackville Baggins anywhere near it, and if he put in a foot note saying to stay away from any large body of water, well who could blame him? Next he wrote his will, because even if he had survived last time there was no way to pe sure he would this time. In the will he stated that he wanted Bag-End to go to Drogo and Permula, he wanted most of the books he owned to go to the library, he gave his garden over to the care of the Gamgee family, and last but not least he explicitly stated that he wanted nothing to go to any of his Sackville Baggins relatives.
Nrext he made a packing list, he was determined not to forget his handkerchief this time around! After he finished with that he rolled up all the pieces of parchment once the ink was dry and placed them I a neat stack on his desk. Now he needed to go to the market, he had thirteen dwarves and one wizard to feed after all. He was almost to his front door when he realized he was still in his night clothes.
Bilbo walked, now properly clothed, down the street to the market place. It was as fine a day as he remembered it, white fluffy clouds dotted around the perfectly blue sky.
Once he arrived at the market he was sure to get a bit of everything, if there was one thing he learned from last time of was that feeding thirteen hungry dwarves was basicly the same as feeding a small army. He got blue berries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, apples, and chocolate to male desserts with, he also got just about every meat he could find, chicken, beef, pork, and lamb, along with an assortment of vegetables. Once he was done Bilbo headed back to his smial.
By the time he had put all the food away it was nearly time for Gandalfs arrival. He grapes his pipe, stuffed it with some Old Toby, then went outside sat on his garden bench and waited.
