Colonel Brandis Valtarim

KAZAMER - 51052 RAIN (Previous)

“My Lord, Colonel Brandis Valtarim of Kazamer!”
Lord Drennon Valtarim motions the Colonel to enter the medium-sized hall, in which he is feasting on a large roasted boar.
“Quick to return I see. Take your seat and speak.”
The Colonel sits down next to Lord Drennon, while a servant fills his large mug with fine red wine.
“I bring good tidings my Lord. Our plans were successful.”, he begins.
“Most impressive, Colonel. But give me details”
“Of course my Lord. Using the gloves you have provided, we have secured the full Belovian Armory underneath Uxol. 515 weapons in total.”
Lord Drennon nods to continue.
“We also have slain approximately 160 soldiers and cleansed 2200 civilians. We also secured food supplies for our own troops for the next five weeks, and captured several of their informants. The miners were instrumental in our assault, and I have chosen to reward them with the crystal coins we have secured during the assault”
Lord Drennon smiles and pats Brandis on the back.
“Cousin, you have impressed me! Please join me in this feast!”, he then turns to one of the male servants standing next to him.
“You boy, get me some guests, food, drink and music! We must celebrate immediately!”
The servant nods and runs off. Moments later, several thespians and bards emerge from the doorway, and a group of lower nobles become the first to join at the dining table. It is only in a matter of half an hour that the dining hall is transformed from a quiet room into a bustling feast and festival spectacle. In general, Kazamerian feasts are known for their opulence and sudden onsets, and this one is no exception..

Later that night, the festivities are in full swing, with flame-throwing artists impressing the audience, and the house ensemble playing their special repertoire to fill up the dance floor. Both Lord Drennon and Brandis are in high spirits under the enjoyment of a fair few mugs of wine, and remain seated at the dining table, chattering happily.

Then, Lord Drennon feels a gentle tap on his shoulder. He looks around.
“Gentlemen, may I join you?”

Rastannaof Seabourne, Lady of Coin

A young lady with a sunken gaze, clad in metallic armour adorned with coins looks at the pair. Drennon stares at her.
“...why, Rastanna of Seabourne, of course!”, he responds boisterously.
“Without you, none of this would have succeeded! Have a seat!”
“I take it the gloves have been effective then. I have sourced them from Red Delta. Do you require more of them?”
Drennon laughs: “I’m sure we have enough! I understood that these Belovian weapons carve through Pargons like a hot knife through butter!”
Brandis looks up and adds: “Well actually… we’ve uncovered over 500 weapons, yet you gave only 200 pairs of gloves. Is there any chance you could secure more?”
The young lady smiles.
“Of course. I believe I can source a few hundred extra pairs from the Red Delta”
Brandis grins broadly.
“But as the Lady of Coin, I would like to have my payment eventually.”
Drennon laughs. “Well, we have that covered now that the mission is a success! Would you like to have it now?”
“That would be very convenient, yes.”, she answers politely.
Drennon looks at Brandis: “Could you take care of this?”
Brandis nods: “Of course my Lord.”

Stairwell to the store room in the Kazamer basement.

The two walk down the stone steps of Kazamer castle, a frigid draught makes the basement of Kazamer castle slightly uncomfortable, and for sure the place is much less decorated with statues and paintings than the floor above.

“We are here, let me show you the cache.”, Brandis says, as he puts a large silver key into a dark stone door and turns it. The door slides open smoothly, revealing a small storage room guarded by several Kazamer soldiers, as well as Captain Marelle herself, wearing a thick head bandage underneath her helmet.

The two step inside, and Rastanna looks at the purple weapons, she then looks at the soldiers and Marelle, who looks battered from the war. She also notices that the soldiers are wearing the gloves, but the Captain is not.

“Sixty-five weapons was the deal, correct?”, Brandis asks.
“Indeed. But if you’d like me to deliver 200 extra pairs, then I’m happy to take a hundred and ten up front. No payment needed afterwards.”
“Ah, a twenty weapon discount for up front payment. That sounds reasonable to me.”
Marelle gazes sharply at the Lady of Coin, but Rastanna refuses to meet her gaze.
“Fair enough.”, she responds, “I’ll have my servants take these along to the Red Delta then. Thank you for your tremendous help.”

As Rastanna oversees her servants transporting the weapons, a black-haired woman quietly looks on from a distance in the corridors.
