Kalavian Tales Tabletop Edition: Introducing the Party

in #fantasylast year

Preamble

The second tabletop roleplaying session of Kalavian Tales ever has now taken place, and much like the first session it worked pretty well throughout the evening.

The game is set in and around Red Delta, which is why I provided additional details about that city a while ago 😁.

This time, however, we decided to do multiple sessions, so I figured it's worthwhile to introduce the Player Characters that constitute the party this time. So here we go:

Valdirim Fletcher

Valdirim Fletcher used to be a proud adventurer in Red Delta, but things went downhill when he started frequenting the Water Wheel, and gambled away all his spoils on an increasingly frequent basis. After being caught stealing from the Guild Master to fuel his addiction, he was tattooed with the Red Seal of Slavery on his back, and expelled from the Guild.

Since the old owner Hisram was a close (gambling) friend of his, he found safety and a life in the Waterwheel tavern, mostly as a companion (a person who bonds with other people in return for pay). However, he is less pleased with the most recent owner and besides he is now gradually paying off his debts. So, the future is looking bright?

Hugo Antillez

Hugo Antillez is a politician from Toth. He has been raised in the political game since he was young. He is currently trying to become the next ruler of the place. In order to accomplish this, he is traveling the world to expand his connections, his reputation and his wealth. He is accompanied by his body guard and his idiot brother (who is actually a brilliant inventor, though way to lazy). Hugo is well versed in the art of being a sneaky rat and rather egocentrical. He is a tall, skinny man with a hooked nose. He has the stately look of a hardened politican.

Kyra of Marbledem

Twenty two years ago, Kyra was born in Marbledem. Her parents were both blacksmiths who highly appreciated their craft, and they sought to raise Kyra in their image. Their dream was that Kyra was to take over the Marbledem Swordworks one day. However, as she grew up Kyra realised her interests were very different: namely to tame fire rather than to tame steel. When she came of age, her parents were dismayed that she did not want to become a smithy. But they reluctantly accepted her wish, and made a deal with her. Kyra was to offer her services as a Fire Channeler for seven years, in order to support her parents and ensure their long-term prosperity. This deal turned out particularly well for her parents, as Kyra turned out to have excellent talents for combat and devastation. Indeed, her parents amassed a great fortune over the years, not in the least from the hoards of the various monsters that Kyra had slain.

And then, on her twenty second birthday, a new era in her life had finally dawned. As she agreed with her parents, she was to depart from Marbledem and find herself an independent life further south. Meanwhile her ambitious cousin Tarik of the Ridge, an uncanny businessman who also fancied a career as a fencer, was selected to take over ownership for the Swordworks. Kyra realized that she would miss her parents, despite their lack of attention for her and their sometimes aloof mentality. At the same time she was also greatly relieved that the burden of having to pay them tribute every day and to dedicate everything for the longevity of the Swordworks was no more.

(Note: this character has featured in the Kalavian Tales storylines before. One of the players chose to play her, so plenty more to come!)
