Though I wasn't feeling fine this morning, I had to engage myself in some farming activities because Animal Scientists don't have break, no holiday for us, our animals must survive and nothing must happen to them most especially when we are carrying out researches. We are always tending to our animals and observing them, so being sick is not an excuse; as an Animal Scientist, if you are indisposed to tend to your livestock, then you have to look for someone who will take care of them like you.
We had to pack the faeces of the pigs and also the dirty water in their drinker; indeed it is an irony to say they pigs are the neatest of all animals
We had to cover our nose with our handkerchiefs and we also wore protective clothing. We also gave them water and fed them with brewery waste which can also be called brewers grain
That is me packing the brewers waste and taking it to the animals. And below is a picture of students fetching water
Brewers grains are the solid residue left after the processing of germinated and dried cereal grains (malt) for the production of beer and other malt products.
After the processing procedures, the remaining product is a concentrate of proteins and fibre that is suitable for feeding farm animals, most especially ruminants.
Other students feeding the pigs
Brewers grains are variable by-product whose composition and nutritional value depends on the grain used, on the industrial process (temperature, fermentation, etc.) and on the method of preservation.
After the activities, I had to rest under a tree (my usual act)
Workaholic 😂 God bless you bro.... Can I join you?
I will be so happy if you can
