Have you ever seen a chicken born with a deformed leg? I just experienced this in Bangkok chicks that hatched a few weeks ago. Yes, they have defective legs. Do you know, there are two causes of chickens born with leg defects: Foot defect factors in chickens because genetic influences are the most common or many are encountered in the world of chicken farming. Yes, the mother hen with defective legs tends to produce her child with deformed feet too. Therefore, you should avoid choosing broods from chickens with disfigured legs, so that this can minimize the birth of chickens with disfigured feet. Factors for handling chicks after hatching also influence the leg defects in chicks. The newly hatched chicks should be placed in a place with an elastic base, do not use a base that is too hard. Some breeders also believe the use of light bulbs that are too close to chicks that have just been separated from their mothers can also cause defects in the legs of chicks, although this opinion cannot be accounted for. However, I have tried hatching chicken eggs using a 5 watt lamp. And it worked, but the chicken feet were deformed. I don't know for sure whether the cause of the chicken leg defect is due to the heat effect of the light bulb. But that's how I experienced it. My advice, don't use broodstock with defective legs. And treat the chicks well after hatching by placing them on an elastic base. If you choose to incubate chicken eggs with a light bulb, then choose a reliable incubator and successfully hatch the chicken eggs properly and perfectly. When using your own experimental incubator, it is very dangerous, as I have done. The final solution to minimizing the occurrence of leg defects in chicks is to make sure the hens when laying eggs get enough nutritious food. If the egg and eggshell conditions are good, also give birth to the quality of chicks born in normal conditions.
