I finally finished making the ruffle peplum belt today and I have to say that it really looks like my sketched design. First I wanted to make the ruffle peplum from checked tweed and the waist band from black satin. I wanted to have it like that first because I had the idea to attach a piece of black lace on the upper body so it will look like a lace bodice. I didn't have much black satin fabric left because I used a lot for making the round ribbon around the two skirts. So I had to be more creative by making the ruffle peplum not totally around the waist.
I still need to add some details, some beading work. I need to or let's say I want to bead the standing collar and add some beads at the front so it will look as if I am wearing a necklace.
After I realised I didn't have enough fabric, I decided to make just a half ruffle peplum belt, enough to cover the front waist. So I cut and double fold the two pieces of fabric.
I started with the small one. I double fold it and sewed it together. Then with a special button on my sewing machine, the running stitch, I sewed on the stitches. Then I pulled the thread to create ruffles.
I did the same with the larger piece of fabric.
Now I have two cute ruffles.
For the waistband I cut 1.2 meter of checked tweed fabric with a width of 4 cm. The seam allowance is included too. I sewed the seam allowance on both sides leaving the middle part, where the ruffles will come, open.
The waistband was still inside out, so with a pencil I pushed it out to get the right side of the waistband.
The seam allowance of the middle part I ironed and attached the ruffles to the waistband. I started with the smaller one and ended with the larger ruffle.
I really believe the ruffle peplum belt gives the dress that extra drama but not too much.
wow, just to imagine there is still more to be done, go go go!

Wow this is definitely looking like your sketched design! It is so exquisite and bold! I really love it and look forward to seeing you model it. Where do you plan on wearing it?
Thank you very much @crosheille :-). For sure I won't wear it outside :-D. too many eyes looking. All those moms and dads hahaha! I will wear it in our bedroom, with black or white backdrop.... or maybe on our roof terrace.
You are very welcome! Lol! I definitely understand that! Maybe a formal event will come up where you and your husband have to dress up together and you could wear it! This dress is too beautiful to stay indoors!!! 😄 Although I’m sure your husband will enjoy you wearing it at home. 😉
I meant for photography :-D. Making the pictures will be in the bedroom with my homestudio ;-). Here in Holland there are not so exciting events. Even if so, people wear normal clothes hahahah!
Haaa!! Oh my goodness we were talking about two different things!! Okay I got ya now :D Lol well you would definitely stand out around people wearing just normal clothes ;)
