Faucet Review - FreeBitco.in

in #faucet8 years ago (edited)

For the past 4 months, I've been using freebitco.in to build up my "rainy day" wallet. I think the site is quite impressive due to its wide range of features and consistent payments. Currently the site seems to be ad-free, which is always nice. Overall, I'd say that FreeBitco.in is one of the best faucets around and can be reasonably trusted.

Basic Info

Type of Coin: BTC

Information Required: BTC address, and a valid email to create an account

Claim Amount: Varies based on Bitcoin exchange rate (Right now between 70-80 satoshi)

Cooldown between Claims: 1 hour

Minimum Withdraw: .0003 BTC

Transaction Fee: Free with auto withdraw (Every Sunday), 775 satoshi for a slow withdraw (takes 6-24 hours), and .00061905 for an instant withdraw (~15 minutes)

The Faucet

As of today, the faucet gives about 70 to 80 satoshi per hour with the chance to win the equivalent of $200 USD in BTC. Note that the amount of bitcoin you receive is tied to its USD value. This means that when the exchange rate increases, the amount of bitcoin given per hour decreases and vice versa.

Bonus BTC per claim can be earned by buying lottery tickets and by playing the HI-LO game featured under the "Multiply BTC" tab. The maximum bonus you can achieve is an additional 1500 satoshi per claim.

Additionally, every claim from the faucet will award your account 2 lottery tickets and 2 rewards points (RP). On most weekends the amount of RP you can earn will be doubled, tripled, quadrupled, and even quintupled up to a base of 10 rewards points per claim.

Gambling

The faucet features 2 forms of gambling; lottery tickets and the HI-LO game.

Lottery tickets can be bought for 3 satoshi each and offer a chance to win one of 10 prizes typically ranging from .005 to 2.5 BTC at the end of each week. You can also earn 1 lottery ticket for every claim that one of your referrals makes, and 1 lottery ticket for every 1500 satoshi you wager in the HI-LO game.

The HI-LO game is your fairly standard provably fair game featured in numerous bitcoin gambling sites. Max profit per bet is 20 BTC. You can also choose to make a side bet in the hopes of hitting the jackpot set at 8888 for an additional fee.

Honestly, I don't think gambling is worth it unless you're trying to gain bonus BTC per claim.

Interest

The site offers compound interest on balances over .0003, the site claims that you will receive 4.08% on your balance each year. The site claims to use this money to cover withdraws, bankroll the HI-LO game, and invest in mining.

Personally, I don't really think it's worth it to keep money on the site as it opens up a lot of risks (although the site has existed for over 4 years at this point) for little gain. Besides, chances are you can make money by investing your bitcoin rather than sitting on it.

Reward Points

As mentioned before, you receive 2 RP for every claim. Additionally, you receive 1 RP for every 1500 satoshi you wager in the HI-LO game and another RP for every claim your referrals make.

You can exchange your RP for a variety of gadgets, hardware wallets, e-gifter gift certificates, temporary bonuses on the site, and BTC.

Gadgets and hardware wallets require more than 1,000,000 RP and you will need to give a shipping address.

Gift certificates are delivered via email and start at 333,333 RP for $25

Bonuses can increase the amount of lottery tickets, RP, or BTC you receive per claim for a period of 24 hours. They are the most affordable ranging from 32 to 3200 RP. Note that the BTC bonuses only affect the base value, it doesn't stack with any other bonus. Highly recommend this option as other rewards are much harder to achieve.

Finally, RP can be traded for 3 satoshi each. However, this requires a minimum of 100,000 RP to be exchanged each time.

Referral System
You receive a bonus equal to half of the base BTC given out, 1 RP, and 1 lottery ticket for every claim your referrals make. You also receive .25% of the BTC that your referrals wager in the HI-LO game, and 25% of the daily interest that your referrals might accrue. Note that for each scenario the amount you receive is rounded down, so if your referral is getting 3 satoshi in interest, you will receive none until they pass the threshold for 4 satoshi.

You can also arrange for a set amount of bitcoin to be distributed to the people you refer each week, but this feature is very rarely used.

I looked at this. In principle, every hour you have a 99% chance to win 0,00000072 BTC, which is 0,2 USD cent, so 0,002 USD.

This means that with 5 times clicking (separated by an hour) you make 1 USD cent - minus withdrawal fees AND you need to do this over 416 times to make the minimal withdrawal.

All the games they have, they claim to be honest, which means you will not win on them on average.

So although it is hard to complain on 'free money', the amount is so incredibly low that it almost costs you more in power to operate your monitor than what you make.

The choice is yours of course :)
