BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Swans and Geese make the upper Carmans river their Winter home.

These are just a few of the hundreds that will gather here.

The fresh water above the dam is more to their liking then the brackish salt water below.

The four with gray in their feathers and yet to have an orange beak are youngsters who will be going into their first Winter.

Great photos - Merry Xmas from New Zealand

!tip 1

Thanks Ian... Merry Xmas to you & Deb ...:-)

We have the same that live on our bay next to Lake Ontario. I would estimate that at any given time one could count at least 30 swans and the geese well you know they really flock together.

Great to see them thriving...

Lovely place for swan watching!! Do they fly very high?!

Oh yeah, they fly like Geese... Migrating they fly 2 to 3 thousand feet. /./ 600 to 900 meters

Oh! They should migrate to Thailand one day!! But it’s too far for them to fly!

It's good the world has differences in animals, plants and people...Things would be so boring if everything were the same :-)
