One of HiveToday's goals is to build a presence across many internet platforms, including Web2 and Web3, and everything in between. We created a home on many platforms, including the Fediverse. Unfortunately, our Fediverse landlord swiftly evicted us on Hive's fork-day of all days!
What Happened on Mastodon.social
When choosing a home in the Fediverse, Mastodon.social was our first choice. Unfortunately, our recent efforts to share Hive podcast content have deeply offended the gatekeepers. As a result of posting and sharing activities, HiveToday is permanently suspended from Mastodon.social. This profoundly saddens the HiveToday team. All 10 followers of our Mastodon account must have also been harmed by our violent acts of sharing YouTube links and brief text summaries. sarcasm warning.
You can see below our long, long list of incidents where HiveToday violated the lease agreement. Without prior warning, the access is shuttered. Message received! "your data is not welcome here". Goodbye, Mastodon. 🖕
When broadcasting on 10 different internet social platforms, the differences in features, reach, and user experience become apparent. The same post that triggered the enforcement action on Mastodon was posted in 9 other places without complaint. The final straw was a post sharing the Deep Web3 Secrets interview with HiveDebit developer Jan Thomasewsky (@jthomasewsky).
What's Next - Minds
Our cry for help was quickly answered. HiveToday's support community recommended we look at Minds.com, which is crypto-friendly and connects to the Fediverse. For now, Minds will be our home in the Fediverse, and you can follow us on our Fedi instance by searching for @hivetoday@minds.com. Until we offend the Minds.com landlords, this will be our Fediverse home base. Thanks for subscribing and engaging with us there!

Well, I used to run my own social network before Steem existed and helped maintain the open source social networking framework over at elgg.org. Minds was originally built using Elgg, so I met Bill through that. He later offered me a job at Minds, as I was also one of the top 5 content creators there at that time - but I turned them down. I did tell him about Steem though and that was what motivated him to look into it and integrate some similar features there later on.
That kind of makes sense, from their point of view... How can Hive be the "freedom platform", and not Mastodon/Fediverse? That's unacceptable, right? Looks like they made the right choice on the path to "freedom" - to suspend your account on Hive anniversary. Well done, Mastodon team! Great that I never tried it!
I honestly thought Mastodon was decentralised..... now I know better ! I guess it's just another Web2 place trying to masquerade as something more free and welcoming than it really is.

The Fediverse is decentralized, but each instance can set its own rules. Mastodon is one of the instances.

It could be a good idea to try out other blockchain social media projects as they would be more receptive to what HIVE is trying to do. The users are already fans of blockchains. INLEO making their onboarding technology open source should make it possible to make other front ends support login with their existing wallets.
