After such a strong qualifying display last Saturday, where Sebastian Vettel took a brilliant Pole Position and both Ferrari's locked out the front grid, it was disappointing to not see either of the Ferrari's take the win at the Chinese Granprix!

Despite the Mercedes jumping the Ferrari at the first pit stop, after Vettel was comfortably leading the race for the first 19 laps of the race, I think the win was still on the cars as Vettel could have overhauled Bottas in the Mercedes, but this was not to be...

Unfortunately the Safety Car that was deployed after the debr is on the track (after the two Toro Rossos coming together) scuppered the race win for both Ferrari and Mercedes.

Daniel Riccardio of Red Bull Racing took the race in the end, thanks to the Safety Car situation, which meant they came in for fianother pit stop to change to fresher and grippier tyres that helped him to take a comfortable win in the end.

To make matters worse for Vettel, the current championship leader, an unfortunate coming together with the Red Bull car of Max Vesteppan, meant that he dropped from what could have been a 3rd or 4th place finish, ended up finishing 8th.

Ferrari may not have won the Chinese GP, but on silver lining from the last race weekend, is that Ferrari have the fastest car by some margin and has created a 'cause for concern' for the Mercedes Benz team, only 3 races in, so this bodes very well for the long season ahead and will not be long before we see another Ferrari victory!

Sort:

A Chinese GP dominated by European cars. It's going to be interesting with all the innovation that has been coming out of China and Asia in general lately, I'll bet they're going to be coming out with some pretty fast cars too.
