Why we get fever - the pyrogenic response – and how to get well fast.

Our body is very smart - it knows that viruses and bacteria don’t like heat.

So when our immune system detects an intruder, it sends pyrogens to the hypothalamus, the region of our brain which controls body temperature, amongst others. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is the most common pyrogen and this is how it works:

So next time you want to take an Aspirin to lower your fever...

...remember that viruses and bacteria don’t like heat. Instead, help your body to stay warm. Get yourself some tea, put on some warm socks and cover yourself with a thick blanket.

Studies have shown, that people who go to the sauna regularly, are less often ill. This may partly be due to the fact, that everytime they go to the sauna, they kill off the viruses and bacteria in their body.
