I’m glad you asked. I’m not making this up, Janton. This is a true story.
We’ve been invited to dinner about 7 times we’ll say since we’ve been here. We had dinner at a few different restaurant with this one couple we met, we’ve been to two other spots with a restaurant owner we met, plus a few more. Well, I’ve tried to get the tab several times and, each time I’ve tried, the bill was already paid. That means ‘whoever’ we are eating with got to the restaurant early and paid the bill so that Pura and I didn’t have a chance.
(one whole hour) early and give the manager £100 to cover the tab. That’s the only time I’ve been able to pay when Pura and I are enjoying a meal with friends.@janton, I’m not making this up. Fact—I’ve only been able to purchase one dinner bill in the roughly 7 dinner dates we’ve been accompanied to and Pura and I had to arrive at the restaurant 1 hour
You know?? We’re blessed Janton. There’s no other explanation. I hear you say it’s been some years, I read people’s articles here about not being able to afford sushi or not having running water.... we’re just blessed my brother and both Pura and I are very well aware it can all be taken at any moment so we just give thanks until our faces are blue. 🥶

Wow, that is truly amazing sir dandays! yes what a wonderful blessing! I guess I'd be eating out with friends all the time too. lol. Very interesting that it has to be a cultural thing.
