LIVING THE MOMENT BEFORE

in #fiction7 years ago (edited)

The hooting sound of owl's filled the nights air as Faith stepped out of her apartment at old creek. She hurriedly walked along the road as she folded herself into her jacket trying to hide her arms. She had to get back to the dinu, she thought as she hurriedly took a turn around a block that led straight to the animal clinic where she had worked. She was a few blocks away when she noticed the shadow behind her. The railman walked menacingly behind her with purposeful studies and picked up her pace. She was now few blocks away from the clinic and she searched her pocket for the keys.

The door creaked as she opened it and searched the drawer for Amobabital. She needed it as soon as possible. She popped open two pills and swallowed sighing in relief and sliding to the floor before realizing the figure looming in he shadows.

"Who's there?"...she asked struggling to her feet.

No one answered and she figured out it was her imagination, relaxing again.

This time she heard footsteps and she hurriedly hid behind the counter. The shadow appeared this time, only that it wasn't a who, it was a What!. It had the shape of a man but this creature whatever it was no man. Terror filled her as she saw its hands, it had claws and it growled angrily crashing everything on the counter she had taken cover in. She whimpered, holding her breath and closing her eyes as she prayed silently.

There was suddenly loud piercing sound and white light shone through the room as bullets sprayed all around her. The creature grunted and lurched forward bursting out through the windows and taking off.
Police sirens filled the air then - she was screwed!.

Fuck!...she blurted out panicking as she looked for a way of escape route. The clinic was surrounded, she had no way out this time. She heard the cops rounded the building baking out orders and before she could react she was cornered.

"Freeze.." one of the cops yelled pointing a gun at her.

"I can explain this...that thing tried to hurt me."
The cop put the cuffs on her hands behind her back and led her out.
"I did not break in" she kept saying as they pushed her into the cop car and closed the door.

Faith opened her eyes feeling alert and awake all of a sudden. Stretched out on her bed, sitting up, she put on her bed lamp and checked her time. It was dark already. jumping out of bed, she slid into her jeans and threw on a sweater, grabbing her keys and purse. She needed booze, and some place noisy and probably a ,am to spend the night with to avoid her dirty old apartment. She searched her purse for her pills and realized she didn't have them. good thing she had a kept a spare key to the clinic after being fired.

She grabbed her shoes, slid into them and steeped out of her house into the cold night. The sound of the owl's filled the night and she shivered at how cold it was folding herself into her jacket properly.

The feeling of deja vu crept over her as she walked past the convenience store, rounded the corner and took a U-turn...

She had lived this day before
