THE FORGOTTEN DRAGON KNIGHT

Dear Journal,
This night I could not sleep as well as I would have liked. This was not because of the High Elf soldiers patrolling camp or the uneasy feeling that the Veil could attack at any time but instead it was the feeling of the unknown within me.
I decided to take a walk, to try and clear my mind, I got out the tent that was setup by Asheron for us and both Sesharrim and Asheron were sound asleep. The midnight air was fresh and crisp, with a slight mist slowly crawling in the distance.
The quiet of the night was felt, I then noticed a blue glow in the distance near the river, I felt the need to go and see what exactly it was.
I was surprised to then see smaller humanoid figures surrounded by floating blue butterflies over the water, it was as if they were busy speaking, or maybe a dance, I was not sure.
I then heard a voice from behind me, Queen Ayrenn:
“I assume your sleep cycle has been interrupted by yesterday’s events. Do not worry, I all too familiar with that feeling, if you are Queen, you forget the meaning of rest.”
I could only agree and clearly I had shown a degree of stress, The Queen then told me that the butterflies and the Fey in the distance, the little humanoids, were actually dancing under the moon of sanctuary, a special event that only occurred once a season.
It was nice to have company and realize that even Queens have difficulty sleeping. I then noticed the guards in the distance and the Queen turned to me,
“Asheron and you did a splendid job with the veil, I can see the strength that you pose and the willpower to lead, and you have a talent, one that even I recognize, the leader factor that is not found in many.
It is this strength that helped you overcome the enemies in that cave and the instinct to keep going forward. It is this strength that saved you and Asheron, a strength that I need in the next few hours again.
If you are willing, I would ask you for one more duty to your Queen. I go tomorrow to the ancestral gardens of Tanzelwil, it is the burial grounds of my blood line. The Veil will be present, I am sure of this.
I wish to keep my carriages safe and have an escort to the burial grounds. You have fought the Veil already, you know our enemy better than the Royal guards that stand behind us as I speak.
I would ask that you escort me to the burial grounds; so I can commune with my line. All I ask, is that you keep me safe with some of my higher officers and to return us to the carriages when I am done.
When we are done, we will make haste to Skywatch, upon arrival, I will have you paid for your duties to the crown.”
I agreed to the Queens offer and felt that I could not refuse; I felt an honour to perform such a duty. I agreed to the task and walked slowly to the tent again, only to turn once to save the memory of the Fey dancing to the moonlight over the river.
When I returned, Asheron and Sesharrim were still fast asleep, though I only noticed on my return that Asheron held his hammer close to him, as if he was ready to wake and start slamming, should trouble had arrived.
Clearly the cave had affected us more than we would like to show, and it is in moments beyond our control that the true fears and strengths actually show.
Maybe this claw like ability was something to help rather than be used against me. I was not sure, but only time could give me answers and I write now to finish this evening as tomorrow we make for the Ruins of Tanzelwil, I will have to get some rest before the morning arrives.
