RE: How NOT To Rescue A Damsel In Distress - A Fantasy Short Story

in #fiction7 years ago

This is what worries me about writing for Steemit. You wrote a great short story, made it available for free, and though upvotes cost us nothing, you have (at this time) 18 views with only 6 votes (incl mine).

I do not know the web well, but surely there must be sites where we could tell readers of fiction and art in general, that there is some amazing talent here?

Sort:

There are lots of sites out there where readers congregate, yes.

For me, though it would be nice to make bookoo bucks here, I'm viewing it as more of a way to get the word out. I'd like to think that some of the people who see my stuff here will, in addition to upvoting, perhaps swing by my site to see what else I'm doing, or roll over to Amazon or Kobo, or wherever, to do the same. And from that, maybe they'll buy some other books of mine.

Loss leader, you know? With the potential to make a little coin on the side as well. Not gonna complain about it.

Besides, I'm new here. Haven't built up a very big following yet. It will come. Or it won't. Can't hurt to give it a try, though.

:)

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked the story!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have been to your site. Unfortunately I am a pensioner, so no spare cash for buying any books (hmm, is that why I write?).

I was impressed with your books and how well you run your site.

Well cool! Thanks again for the compliment. :) Good to know one's efforts have born (or should it be borne?) good fruit.
