To be possessed - Chapter 6- a story by Giantbear

Joel woke up a few hours later. He had a severe headache and couldn’t remember much of what happened. He sat up straight, but when he tried to stand up he couldn’t. He was in a basement somewhere, and his leg was chained to the bed.

"Why would anyone want to do this to him?"

The last thing he remembers, was the lunch with Vanessa, and then he drove to Jessica’s house. She must have drugged him and then dragged him downstairs. He knew there was something off with this girl. Everything happened so quickly after the accident.

She was the first on the scene to comfort him, and she made him feel so at ease. She even drove behind him to make sure he got home safely, and then they exchanged numbers. He wanted to repay her for her kindness and invited her to dinner to thank her, but she must have gotten the wrong message.

She has been phoning him daily ever since, and it never bothered him, but a few days ago it did. He should have broken off this friendship over the phone, but like always he was just too polite. Now his politeness caused more trouble than anything else.

He was stuck in a situation, and he had no idea how he was going to get out of here. He felt in his pocket for his cell phone, but she must have confiscated that too.

He observed the small dark room around him, and could see nothing that would help him get out of this dire situation. He had to make a plan to get out of here, but couldn’t think of anything to do while he was stuck to this bed.

He pulled on the chain and realized that he would not be able to move further than a meter from the bed. He sighed deeply, and sat on the edge of the bed. It felt like someone was banging on his head with a hammer, and he decided to rather lay down.

He had no idea what time it was and when tried to check his watch, he realized that she even took that away from him. He felt angry and panicky, but realized that it was not going to help him the least bit if he panicked. He just closed his eyes and tried to sleep.

He must have dozed off and woke up a while later feeling as if someone was staring at him. He opened his eyes and saw Jessica sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Hey sleepyhead, how are you feeling?”

“My head hurts… Jessica why are you doing this?”

“I saw you with her. I was out buying some ingredients for our dinner, when I passed the café Rochelle. I will not be thrown away for that type of girl.”

“It’s not what you think Jessica. Vanessa and I grew up together…. We met each other when we…we see the same psychiatrist.”

“I know that you’re seeing a psychiatrist. I gave the number to the ambulance driver to give to you. Doctor Madison has been my psychiatrist for years, and I was hoping to run into you there at some point, but then you invited me to dinner…and I just knew that accident brought us together forever.”

“What is your plan Jessica, do you want to keep me locked up here forever?”

“Oh no Joel. I don’t want to keep you locked up forever. I just want to keep you here until you see my point. You will soon see that we belong together, and until you do, you are not going anywhere.”

“I need to go to the bathroom.”

“I’ll bring you something. You are not going to escape on my watch. I will make you see what I want you to see. You must be hungry. I’ll bring you something to eat."

Joel watched as Jessica flipped her blond hair back, and quickly ran up the stairs.

This girl was crazier than he thought. He had to find a way out of here but it was not going to be easy. Jessica was a total nutcase!
