I saw poverty in the eyes,
Of a little Street boy
In rags and dirt
Starved and malnourished
And I wondered
if I had seen all of its nakedness.
I saw a girl in tears
Roofless and of no wears
Looking haggard and miserable
Obviously of no one desirable
The street leaper
I don't think I've gone deeper
So I visited a house
And saw a fire i cannot douse
The greatest fire of poverty
The deprivation of love
The lack of peaceful communication
And I fell at loss for its might.
Like it's not enough
I saw one who crave
Not for material things or wealth
But for a happy family and good health
Nothing much,nothing less
Just what I can't lease.
And back to the streets,
I ventured,expecting no sweets
But to view the ugliness of the world
In the nakedness of poverty
And see great minds in small bodies
Living as scavengers upon the earth.
