One is a dragon, the other a human cursed with immortality. They fell in love, and they spend their long life running a forge in a lovely small city. -- Anon Guest

Welcome to Dragonforge, the first place to create and use Feathermetal. It, and neighbouring Redmine, are notorious for both this and insisting on remaining a little place in the middle of nowhere.

They could have made an empire on the basis of Feathermetal, but there was one thing that made them decide to stay away from such popularity. The primary reason they called it Dragonforge in the first place. The Dragon called Blufyre.

Ze was married to the metalsmith Cheyne Khommor, who had been cursed with a Dragon's lifespan at some distant time past. Whatever he had done to earn such punishment was long forgotten. He spent his days working on new metals, new weapons, and new armour.

The merchants who get his masterworks know to spin a tall tale about where and how they chanced across such things.

Once in a while, a challenge comes to their door.

The Aviad was slight of build and sleek to behold. Beautiful, but clearly fragile. "I have been permitted a year and a day to secure arms and armaments," he said. "To make a fair fight against an Orc. I have sought you for most of that time, and I promise I will keep your secrets."

Blufyre and Cheyne echanged glances. The Dragon, currently concealed as an elemental, had already begun doodling notes. "Feathermetal will be a starting point," ze said. "Starmetal folded within... perhaps some tin?"

"Experiment seventeen eighty-four thirteen?" said Chayne.

"Oh! Oh yes. We have done this before. I'll get the recipe."

The armour and weaponry was complete within a week. They even made sure that the Aviad could fly with it.

"We wish you the best of luck," said Cheyne. "Please think of your story on the way back to your battle."

I wonder how many people who think to study these things would pick a common thread in all the stories 😆

And I hope the paper get to hear some of the stories through the grapevine if nothing else, they sounds like it would be entertaining.

Not for the people in Dragonforge though.

Failure to notice and correct on my phone -_- I meant I hope the people of Dragonforge get to hear some of the stories their customers spun about how they acquired their goods XD

Aha yes. That would be much better

Sadly, I can see a merchant lying and saying they'll keep the secretly, only to blab as to exactly where they got the wares, and the town attached.

That kind of Merchant meets a quick end because it's NEVER a good idea to piss off a Dragon.
