RE: Outliers :: A Short Story

in #fiction7 years ago

This is a very thoughtful and thought-provoking piece, @negativer! I love that someone understands him and that he has an opportunity to change his outlook. I truly hope this scenario is possible—a person on the brink of a disastrous act actually being thwarted by an intervention.

One wonders how often this kind of stuff happens without anyone noticing. I think a lot of us are on the brink of bad decisions all the time, and something or someone pulls us back from the edge. I know my wife brings a lot of balance to my life; without her to level out the highs and lows I'm certain I'd have made quite a few more bad choices in my life :)

Thanks for reading!

Interesting thought! Yeah, I am very fortunate that way as well. My husband is my rock. I think a lot of people struggle because they don't have that tether. Maybe that's the real secret to mental health... get everyone who is struggling with obsessions or bad thoughts paired up with someone who really cares and brings them balance. Well, our work here is done! Briskly rubs hands together. We've solved a significant percentage of the problems of the world. :-)
