The year is 2084. I have found this beauty of an antique and to my surprise it still works! It’s called a laptop! I have never seen one before in my life. Getting used to typing on a physical object is going to take some getting used to. Getting used to physical reality in itself is going to be even harder. It’s so weird to look at something on a screen and not through augmented reality contact lenses or a virtual reality headset. My eyes are not used to it as I’ve been living in an augmented reality since I can remember. The world is so bland and drab and gray, it’s like suddenly living in a dull dream.
I don’t know why I’m writing this or what it’s even about.. who am I writing this to? Myself? Someone in the future? I heard of something called a diary that people used to keep in ancient times. People used to use laptops and desktop computers all the time before VR got big. I remember watchbooks in school saying that people used to use something called paper.. which was made from trees. But somehow it was flexible. They would write on it in this stuff called ink using physical pens. I always wondered what paper felt like it, looked like it might have been soft, or even slimy.
One of the kids at college used an illegal bio-mod to hack into the school system today. Hum made the security droids all dance to this weird song from the 1990’s called “Cha cha” something. All the students thought it was hilarious but the head teacher was not impressed. Per took it very seriously, per said that if Hum couldn’t start behaving as a responsible Person that Hum would not only be expelled from Jenner’s College for Pers, Hums, and Ums, but Hum could also face serious legal consequences. You have to do something pretty serious for that to happen, the last time it happened was when a hater dared to call Humself a MAN. Everyone at college was so shocked as we’d only watched about such hateful terminology from watchbooks in school.
The Cryptorists are at it again. They airdropped loads of Satoshis to everyones wallets. I woke up and checked my TRipple balance as I usually do to see how much interest I’d gained overnight, and there were 2 whole Satoshis in my account! Naturally I started to imagine all the things I could buy on the black market. Thoughts flashed through my mind of luxury food, alcohol, cigarettes, and other things I’ve never been able to try otherwise. Non essentials look so appetizing and people must have been addicted to them for a reason right? But the government are doing a much better job of cracking down on people who use the dark web. The weakness is not in the dark web itself, but the postal scanning systems which are getting better and better at detecting contraband, even when it is wrapped in stealthic.
2 whole Satoshis! That is worth at least 534 TRips at the current rate. That’s enough to buy some land and a house, even here in the United Kingdom of Europe! Or I could have even moved to the United States of the Americas. Ah well one can dream. If only I could work out a way to convert the money anonymously and disappear without a trace. If only I didn’t have this stupid RFiD chip in my hand and then it might be possible. It’s itching now as I think about it. I’m never getting bio-mods I don’t care if people at college think I’m weird. No way am I getting those.
I better go now as my mum and dad are expecting me to eat with them tonight. We’re visiting the new restaurant ‘Virtual Paris’ it’s meant to be really good! I’ll try to write some more soon.
