If the grey path was 'SLOW', did that mean the red path was 'FAST'? Alex eyed them both, trying to decide which would be the better option if she chose to continue on, and smirked. The answer was obvious. Accused of being a slow-poke by those who cared, obscenities and glares would be aimed at her as those who couldn't care less barged past in their haste to get to wherever they needed to go.
People were so impatient these days. No-one stopped to smell the roses anymore. She smiled; she was sounding more and more like her grandfather, may he rest in peace.
The grey path would be better suited, she did not care for the rage of those who would choose to travel the red.
"Move it, sister!"
Some guy shoved past and took long strides down the red path. His chin held high, he swung his hips and sashayed into the distance faster than a cheetah on speed and more flamboyant than a Sydney 'Queen'. He certainly wasn't smelling the roses. How could she possibly hurry? She was still uncertain where the paths would even lead. Her friends had told her to come here, but didn't give her any information about what would be awaiting her. Informed decisions were key.
Two more people hurried past as she shuffled towards the bulletin board and gingerly took a pamphlet.
'Greetings, traveler. I am your personal ticket. Your ticket to the ACTION! Keep me close and follow the road, you will see where I need to go.'
'Action'? That wasn't really her thing. Her friends knew her better than this, surely. She tried to put the pamphlet back, but couldn't return it. There was a bin to the side of the board and she tried to discard it, but it wouldn't leave her fingers. She flapped her hand wildly, trying to free herself from the so-called 'ticket', but it refused to flutter away
Ugh. Alex glared down at the paper. The words were gone and were replaced with a smug smiley-face emoji. So, that's how it was going to be. Either this pamphlet would be stuck to her for the rest of her life, or she deposited it wherever it was supposed to go.
An image of her future wedding burst into life, not that she was even seeing anyone at the moment, but she walked down the aisle in a beautiful dress, the very image of perfection bar the damned black paper glued to her hand, that obscured her fingers, that all the guests stared at.
Fine. She harrumphed beneath her breath and turned back to the paths. The grey one it was! Slow and steady with no impatient sods to knock her over. She would find where this cursed 'ticket' belonged, and go home.
Today is Day 261 of @mydivathings' #365daysofwriting challenge! And this is the first part of my new continuation. I'll try not kill off the protagonist this time. ;)

ALSO!
If anyone is reading this little bit down here past the story, I would like to bring your attention to a sci-fi story being written by my partner, @steemydave. He is an incredibly hard-working man who spends his very limited downtime losing himself in a world of his own creation, and you know how Steemit is. Things are posted only to be lost within minutes as a flurry of other posts take over.
He just posted chapter two of his ongoing Starswift story, and you can find it here - https://steemit.com/scifi/@steemydave/starswift-chapter-2 - if you have time, please give it a read!
Great job. Hope all is well.
Cheers. :)
