So as some of my readers may have noticed, it has been a while since I have posted anything on my main story.
Whilst I have been crazily writing away here, I haven't reached a stage where I'm ready to post the main story line.
So I have decided that I am going to be writing a story that is based in the world I have created Keltorin, the only difference is this story will be set prior to the main storyline.
I have started writing this story and I intend to begin writing it immediately, I hope to have it posted by tomorrow.
The prequel of sorts will be set several years earlier(rather than decades) than the main story and the characters will include some that will be featured in the main story many years in the future.
My main aim besides sharing some character backstories I have been writing, is to help establish the world the story is set in - and in this particular instance the Kingdom of Almain, whereas the main story will begin in Valcanne.
I hope that in sharing some of the writing I have been working on over the past few months with the community, I can begin to reveal just how massive this story has become.
In telling this alternative story at a different time, I hope to take my readers on a journey that they will enjoy both independently and in the future when reading the main story - this gives the reader an opportunity to learn additional information that will not be readily available in the main story.
I am actually really excited about getting to write this backstory, I new the details but I just couldn't find a way to add it to the main story without destroying the timeline - this way the timeline remains intact and the readers get to follow along on another journey with some surprising twists along the way.
I had actually written the basic outline of this backstory over a year ago and over the past few days I have been, ironing out some of the details and ensuring there is continuity of character, locations and times.
Now with the reader along for company, I will flesh out the basic outline I have already written and hopefully show some insight into characters the readers wouldn't have known - if I had stuck with the original plan and just written the main story.
I hope that everyone reading enjoys the story, I think it contains just as much intrigue and scope as the main story.
Now I had been writing flash fiction of late and I do hope to continue even whilst I am writing this other story, but I want to be able to focus my attention on steemit back onto my main world.
I enjoy writing the flash fiction, but finding an inspiring image to create a story about can be difficult and take hours to find something interesting enough to be worth writing about.
Here is my collection of Flash Fiction so far:
The story set 7 years in the future:
The Kingdom of Valcanne:
The Fauna of Keltorin:
The Flora of Keltorin:
The Kingdoms of Keltorin:
Everyday I am adding new details to the world and it's characters, this is becoming such a massive undertaking I just want to be absolutely sure I am approaching this in the right way.
I have two options after I finish this backstory and that is to start the main story and hope it is ready to go, or I can find another Character, backstory or event from the past that I can write without jeopardising the main story line.
Either way I will try to keep doing to occasional piece of flash fiction to help keep things interesting and varied on here, I hope that you all enjoy the new story and I hope to have the first part out at sometime tomorrow.
