uhh, really dark @suesa... I like it! She is after all only 17 and death and destruction is all that she has experienced, so that is a fair enough ending...
This got me thinking though... there is a lot of genetic modification going on in food so could a wild strain cross with a GMO to create a deadly product? Could this then self seed and travel like recent GMO crops in the US so it keeps popping up killing wildlife and possible unaware humans?

Also really good point about pollinators... and resources... how many resources would have to be shipped in, to terraform Mars vs. how much could be extracted and processed there... Again plenty of food for thought so thanks! Keep it up. Upvoted and reesteemed.

GMOs are usually throughly tested before being allowed on the open market. In many cases they're also sterilized so exactly what you described won't happen.

Sure, it's not 100% foolproof but neither is nature itself. Mutation is random and happens all the time.
