Path of Shadows

As I walked through the bush path, I was clouded with a deep sense of fear. I felt like I was being watched but try as much as I did, I couldn't find anyone around. Save for the sounds of birds chirping and the crunch my feet on the dry leaves, the bush was shrouded in darkness. It was getting dark and the clouds promised a huge downpour.

I tried to take my mind off my current predicament by thinking happy thoughts and soon enough a distant memory came to play in my subconscious. I was walking with my sister that evening along a lonely path. We were going back home from church and had decided to take the shorter bush path home. As we walked through the lonely path, we suddenly heard strange sounds around us. I had turned around to find out the source of that noise, but when I turned back, my sister was gone as though she weren't there.

I was in shock for a few seconds before I actually shouted her name frantically. As if to taunt me, her hand, severed from her body, fell down in front of me just as I heard a very sorrowful cry in her voice. After the cry, there was complete silence and just like that, my sister was gone.

I started as I quickly pushed that thought down to the recesses of my mind. That wasn't the happiest of thoughts I had. In fact, the ghost of her hand still haunted me till today. Coincidentally however, I was walking along that same path today, and I couldn't help the goosebumps that suddenly encased my skin. I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that slithered up my spine. I was totally being watched but I couldn't decipher who was watching and why I was being watched.

I was looking straight ahead and could swear that there wasn't a shrouded figure in front of me few seconds ago. But as I looked, I could see two, no three cloaked figures ahead of me in pure white apparel. My heart sank into my stomach and I began immediately to recount the moments of my life which surely was bound to end soon.

I tried to stop walking, but an invisible force propelled me forward against my will. Soon enough, I found myself in the middle of a meeting. I could count seven men now, in cloaks. They seemed to be in the middle of a feast, only that their plates were empty but they had very sharp knives and they seemed to be happy.

One of them stood up and declared in a loud voice...
"The gods have provided the lamb for the sacrifice"

Then I woke up!
It was a dream.
Hell No!
It was a nightmare!
