The Crack History of the Universe Book 1 Ch.9 The End of Peace

At the dawn of the Mesoproterozoic Era in the year 1’600’000’000 B.C.E. the Calymmian Period began as the continent of Columbia began to break apart slowly and it would be gone by the year 1’500’000’000 B.C.E. It would be known later as the last remnant of the Great Galactic Peace because around the same time as Columbia’s breakup a new menace to the Universe would rear its head towards the major powers it could find standing in its way.

The Coming of the Thrints!

Unanimously the Great Galactic Peace is said to have ended the second that the Forces of Sentience reunited to declare war on the Thrintun Empire and the Outsiders an invadeing rival force that the Ancients were fighting in a conflict that came to be known as the Duo War of 1’500’000’000 B.C.E.

From the outside looking in however this entire war a crapshoot (for lack of any better ways to properly describe the Duo War’s early years) as the Forces of Sentience were essentially fighting an uphill battle against a psychic mind controlling species that wasn’t nicknamed the “Slaver Empire” for nothing. The worst part of it all though was the fact the Forces of Sentience were losing…

Desperate and prideful the Gallifreyans tried to find any way necessary to turn this war into a quick and easy genocide against the Thrints for humiliating them constantly in warfare and in espionage with them making mockeries out of their best agents and men with their mind controlling powers. Luckily the Gallifreyans got their wish in the form of the Tnuctipun species which was always going to rebel against their Thrintun masters when the right spark came around to “ignite” their plans into motion and they swiftly joined the Forces of Sentience near the middle of the war and thus the tide of the war had turned on a dime because of that single action.

Now with the use of Tnuctip technology at their fingertips the Forces of Sentience got a massive boost to their campaigns successes! The Tnuctip’s Anti Mind Control technology being instrumental in leveling the battlefield into an even playground. However, as those who have heard this story before they know that there wasn’t any sort of happy ending at the end of these campaigns…

Suicide Night

In one of the most despicable war crimes ever perpetrated by a warmongering elite class of any species in the galaxy the Thrintun Empire in an action some have described as a “mad and tyrannical infant’s tantrum over not winning the war” the Thrintun Empire during the siege and final assault on their home and central planets had started a counter stratagem to hopefully demoralize their enemies into retreating and giving them time to rebuild their army so they could reinvade their weakened enemies quickly.

The plan itself though was to use a telepathic amplifier to order every single living being in the universe one single command:

Die.

And upon hearing this mass suicides would commence across the universe with countless innocent sentients affected by this telepathic command.

The Gallifreyans however got wind of this plan and they altered its aftermath to lessen the damage that the universe would sustain by making it so that the Thrintun’s telepathy shields would deactivate as well; the moment they issued the order throughout the universe. So, when the Suicide Night event occurred every single Thrint alive, commoner or elite, would join the mass suicides of those they wanted dead as well effectively making the entire Thrintun species extinct with Gallifreyans having the blood on their hands.

The reason why the Gallifreyans didn't just rig the shields of their allies to die as well during this event was because of the "guests" (political prisoners and hostages by another name) their allies held on certain ships that were critical to the Gallifreyan governing body that if they hacked into they would only be harming themselves and their chances to rebuild after Suicide Night's occurrence which would already be monumental on its own without almost every species in the galaxy extinct.

Aftermath

While the Gallifreyans and the rest of the sentients were protected by their telepathy shields the rest of the civilians across the galaxy were not so fortunate as the Thrintun’s command got to countless unprotected cities resulting in mass extinctions or near extinctions with almost around 90% death rates for the planets which had the fortune of having telepathic protection technology express shipped to them for their strategic value in the war.

While the Ancients tried to revive as many species as they could and help rebuild intergalactic society from the blood pools and corpses and new infectious diseases and plagues that were sprouting up and around the universe the major powers all unanimously agreed that now was a time to put aside their differences in favor of the greater good of sentient life.

It was a hard task for the humanitarians and other such medics but it was even harder for the veterans. Having nowhere to go back to and even worse knowing that your entire family, your friends, and your community was reduced to indistinguishable dead took great psychological tolls on these men and some records show some veterans suicides having occurred during this period with common motivations being “they just wanted to be with their families again.”

This singular event brought the Great Galactic Peace to an end as a new Dark Age of the Universe arose from the blood and the death scattered across the many planets and star systems.

This was the cost of Suicide Night.
