"Well I'll be glad to help in any way I can." Shaun said and took another bite of his breakfast. " I must be off" detective Deccan said. It was good to meet you'" Shaun smiled and stood up. "Don't worry, I will take care of the bill" Shaun said, and he watched detective Deccan walk out of the diner. Shaun finished his breakfast and headed back to the office.
CHAPTER 5
Shaun went back to the office. He switched on his computer and opened the file where he saved the crime scene photos. He just sat there staring at the photos. He knew he had a passion for photography but he never imagined being here at this time, doing exactly what he wanted to do for so long. "I need your eyes" that's what she said...Shaun thought to himself. "So what did I see that they couldn't see?"
And then he saw it. He immediately grabbed his phone and started dialing detective Deccan's number. " "Could I meet you at your office? I am sure I can help you shed some light on this investigation."
Fifteen minutes later Shaun stopped in front of the station. It was a dark building, and there were people walking in and out of the front door. Shaun squeezed his way past a police officer, bringing in an angry young woman that had no inhibitions left as her skirt was torn and her upper leg was half exposed. The officer treated her with respect but she didn't care. She was screaming and mocking the officer.
"I need to see detective Deccan please, she is expecting me." Shaun looked up and saw her standing in the doorway next to the charge office. She waved her hand and he followed her as she disappeared in the hallway.
Detective Deccan closed the door behind them. " I saw the evidence on the photo" Shaun said. "Could we go back to the crime scene now, I brought my camera and would like to take a few more photos."
"Do you have your car here?" Detective Deccan asked? " Mine's at the shop, some drunk idiot thought it funny to drive into my rear last night. I arrested him, but my taillight is broken."
"Is this yours? I love this! I always wanted one but I never have the time to go car hunting. Besides, I love my car." Deccan laughed as he opened the car door for her. " A gentleman. You don't see many of those around these days" Shaun smiled, and knew that working with detective Deccan was just what he needed.
He accelerated a little and then drove at a steady speed. They drove in silence but he could feel Detective Deccan stare at him. It wasn't long before they reached their destination, and she was out of the car before he could even stop. Shaun followed her when she ran up the flight of stairs.
The police barrier was broken and the door was open. "We just missed them" Detective Deccan whispered. She looked pissed off. Her normally calm and relaxed demeanor slowly changed, and her face contorted in an all consuming anger. She stopped Shaun before he could enter. " It's gone, the little bit of shrewd evidence is gone. The one thing that I had on them is now back in their possession."
" No use to stay here, as the scene is now contaminated. We'll have to go back to the drawing board, and your photo might be the only thing we have to link these murderers to this crime. Now to find a way to prove that this crime had a motive." Detective Deccan looked adamant.
