He was leaning against the blue wall when Loretta walked pass. The beautiful Loretta had been his classmate for two sessions and he had a lot to say to her but all they said was 'Hi'. Days upon nights, her name sat on the seat of his tender heart.
The moment she walked pass, the colorful butterflies of deep love flew over his head. At morning devotions, his parents warned him against having a girlfriend.
"You are only 15. Don't dare join the bad boys "
Those were their resounding words everyday.
On the second Saturday in February that year, he had done the weekend chores with Loretta's name ringing in his fleshy ears.
" I can't help it! I'm in love with Loretta"
He sat on his foamy bed, placing his palms under his jaw with thoughts flooding through his mind when his fat mum pushed the iron door open.
"Lunch is set, Reymond. Eat and rest! We will be going to church this evening. Don't forget to read Psalms and Leviticus "
She said calmly and shut the door almost immediately.
Reymond loved God but he couldn't explain why Leviticus looked like Loretta to him. The magical feelings drove him to the window as he kept his left arm in between the slides. Looking out through the window, he wished Loretta could be his.
And his thoughts were rudely interrupted by a loud noise like the sound of the door.
It was his mum and dad!
"Reymond, don't tell me you aren't dressed for church. We are already late "
His father, the parish pastor, screamed at him.
" Honey, I don't know why Reymond dislikes going to church these days. Is this how we brought you up, Reymond?"
His mum, the leader of Christian Women Fellowship, complained bitterly with a glum look on her face.
" Listen, Reymond! We are Christians in this house and we must serve God. You have two minutes to meet us up in the car "
His father resumed.
They left his presence angrily, leaving Reymond almost driven to tears for he just couldn't get over his dream girl, Loretta.
While he dug his legs into his dark jean trousers, Loretta's smile flashed in his head and the picture of her pretty eyes stared at his weak heart. Racing down to his car with the holy book in his right hand, her fragrance sent a fresh memory to his nose.
He was in church but he wasn't in church.
Diary of a young boy who is in love at 15 but nobody understands.
#Fiction
Poor Reymond!
He was dying in silence for his parents only cared about his spiritual needs and forgot his emotional needs.
I wish I could talk to his parents.
I wish I could tell them that raising a teenager is not just about taking them to church.
I wish they know that falling in love is not a curse even though he is just a boy.
I wish I could tell them to teach him about love, lust, sex and relationship.
I wish they could teach him how to handle a woman even when he is in love with her so he doesn't mess up.
I wish they could allow him open up to them.
I wish they know that screaming at him daily would only scare him away from them.
I wish they know that he needs them the most now.
I wish they could explain that he needs to be a man before searching for a woman.
I don't know how Reymond would finally get over Loretta but I smell danger if his parents do not act fast.
