In the vast north of the mystic lands of Ephemlis lived a remorseful King. His empire had been desolate since the loss of his beloved Queen a decade before. The ferocious war between the King’s forces and the troops of his neighbouring rivals the Kagoulions, an almost human-like yet distinctly bat-like people with flaps spanning the side of their heads to their shoulders and stretching to their hip bone, had seen the him victorious but only in battle. A well-placed arrow had struck the queen in her mandible shattering the bottom half of her face and gouging parts of the inside of her skull. The news almost killed the king himself.
