Nordlute walked the streets. Doing so was a good way to collect his thoughts. Sometimes he needed to get away from the glowing screens with their many distractions. Who was this servant girl who worked for Torundel? It was very rare to find a young person with no social media presence. Perhaps she had something to hide.
He passed a tree covered in flyers disparaging the Count. That was a traditional form of shitposting with a long history. Everyone knew that Runt Odel was behind that campaign.
He passed the legal offices of Ren du Lot. Nordlute had used him for a rent dispute, but the guy was incompetent and had lost him a lot of money. He spat on the doorstep to express his contempt.
It was actually a lovely day and Nordlute found himself wandering far from home through parks and along the river. Although he lived in a city he generally felt lonely. He was good at his work, but it was mostly done alone and he struggled to find anyone to make music with. His long working hours made social activities difficult. He had resorted to paying for sex a few times, but the coldness of the streetwalkers made it lacking in satisfaction.

@Nordlute, the shit sysadmin is a serial shitposting fiction taking inspiration from Torundel, the shitposter by @katharsisdrill, Ren du Lot, the shit lawyer by @vcelier and Runt Odel, the little shit by @owasco. Mort, the shit manager by @slobberchops inhabits a different universe, but follows similar rules.

I like the atmosphere of seventies anti hero that walks around sort of detached from the things he's looking at.
Sounds like me :) Maybe there is something of me in Nordlute, apart from the bit about using prostitutes.
I think it is impossible for an artist not to be part of or a bit like your artwork. People on the other hand often thinks that you are exactly like your artwork. They forget what imagination really is :)
I hear people say lots of things about this paying for sex and how it makes no sense and it doesn't give a man the pleasure he needs. In my school we had a debate on this issue and when a poll was created 90% of the boys in my school accepted they have done it with thier reasons for doing it. In my opinion it doesn't make any sense.
It's not something I have experience of, but as 'the oldest profession' it must have something going for it. Letting criminals control the industry in many countries results in a lot of exploitation. If it's going to happen regardless then it is better to protect those involved. There's too much suffering in the world as it is. Of course it may be a struggling industry like others in the current situation.
A nice addition. It reminds me of something from that Bob Seger song "Mainstreet". Good stuff!
Just thinking about the next episode. I am open to suggestions on where this should go.
