Life

I looked outside the window and noticed Rikka, the last born girl picking something from the ground to eat.
"Rikka!! Géku mba iyeeh!!" I shouted, reprimanding her.
She freezed holding whatever she was about to eat in her hand then I began walking towards her.
"How many times have I warned you people to watch her?" I shouted at my 2 other siblings, the twins, who stopped playing to see what the commotion was.
I unfolded her fist to reveal a seed of dried up groundnut, surely well past the date of consumption and probably germination.
I sighed as I carried her back with me into the trailer.

My human gifts
The second winner was announced and to my surprise, Aminat came second, "what happened? Who took first?" these were the questions I was asking myself. Immediately Aminat climbed up to the stage to receive her present, I gave up on winning because if she could take second place who then was the winner of the contest? After a while, with a smile on his face, looking at the rest of us looking anxious and terrified, the announcer cleared his throat and announced the winner of the contest. I was shocked to the marrow when I heard my name and my mom jumped up from her seat, my friends screaming at the top of their voices, it was like a dream to me because I'd given up. I screamed from where I was standing and ran up to the stage to collect my present which comprised a crown and some other packed gift items.

“Come now, stop playing with it,” said her mother.
“Who is it for?” Aida asked.
“Never you mind that. Stand straight with your shoulders held back. Just like that.”
The minutes passed as if they were each an eternity for Aida. Her mother measured, cut, sewed, added pins here and there, her hands weaved dexterously through the material, meticulously transforming the dress with skill and ease. It was a wonder to see her move, so quick and nimble, her hair falling over her shoulders as she worked from a design that she alone could see in her own mind.

Awakening in a cold sweat, Robert found himself at a crossroads. The nightmare served as a wake-up call, shattering the walls of apathy that had enclosed his heart. With the dawn of a new year, he made a resolution – to rebuild the fragments of his shattered family and redeem the lost years.
On New Year Day, Emily was trying to get her children warm and keep them busy while she made lunch for them when they heard a knock on the door. She paused and listened again to be sure of what she heard the first time, the knock came again much louder this time, she came downstairs and stood in front of the door wondering who it could be as they rarely had visitors.
“ Who's knocking ? “. She asked but no reply came.

Blooming Amidst Winter's Fade

When ice finally thawed to running streams and emerald buds bejeweled their arbors once more, Janet revisited the fateful maple where her muse first called one holiday morn. The browned faded leaf still clung stubbornly to its branch through seasons rough and serene alike. No curtain call for this matinee leaf that stirred imagination against odds in one pixie-minded woman those months ago! Buoyant in her steps, Janet ambled on through the reviving park. She knew now always beneath winter's veneer soft blooms await when we nourish creativity’s kindling spark.

"Check the email. I won't call again," the voice said quickly.
Without wasting any time, I checked the email on my phone. There, I found the response from BioWatch.
