Remember when we met? I was a spaceman, you were a farm-girl-- and you thought my ship was a dream.
Remember? You said that you'd always liked things that were peculiar, and then you'd insisted that I was most odd, all in nearly the same flushed breath!
And I seem to recall how then you'd shown me, by insisting that I leave, even as you followed me back to my craft, just how unreasonable a young woman could be. I thought that, I'll admit.
Then we agreed that I was afraid of you in a way; that I was just a man, and it was understood that you could quickly take command of both my spacecraft and my heart-- do you remember?
I laugh now-- and now I know why I fidgeted with my transporter, pretending that it was faulty. Why did I thwart my own escape?
Here's that very transporter bracelet, it's never gone wrong, and while logic told me to board the craft and fly away from the peril that I'd envisioned in my mind, my brave heart told me to spend another moment near the mysterious flame that still warms me, a flame that I'd already envisioned in my own faraway dreams.
Remember how we both knew? We knew too much, together, and we knew it. We laughed as we looked at each other, and we knew I'd stay longer. Did you know I'd stay this long? I think I knew.
I was a spaceman! With the expanse of all of the cosmos a blink away, I'd entered a force-field of two worlds-- yours and mine-- somehow embraced in a starlit tango before we'd really heard the song, long before I landed, and long before you'd captured my dizzy heart with your gorgeous planet.
A farm girl indeed! You were a young woman, a mighty Goddess with powers beyond the imagination of a simple space traveler, a traveler who was but a child before that day. The air was clear, while your planet was enchanted with the faintest feeling of a memory, like a forgotten scent in a long-lost garden. That day, my spaceship and I transcended into this world of dreams.
My spaceship! It was rendered useless; but there would be no attempt to escape this atmosphere of nurture and care, when all of your brilliant nature, and all of my being told me to stay, and to imagine with you, and with your caring warmth and generative strength. The galactic traveling craft had done it's job-- it had brought me here so long ago so that we could do this now. We knew it right away, remember?

Sometimes a little reassurance through the sharing of old memories can make all of the difference in the world, or a planet. Sharing some love here in the Spring with the Goddess, the bountiful Earth.

Such a wonderfully written piece. This is captivating and really encapsulates the emotions brought upon by springtime. At least, it's how I imagined it would be. The words really touch upon that longing feeling between the spaceman and the Goddess. Great job!
I could tell as I wrote, that they'd known each other a long time.
That's such a touching story... Thanks for sharing!:)
