“I love you too”, I replied with a beaming smile on my face then I made my way out of the kitchen slightly bumping into my roommate.
He unexpectedly dragged me back, “so how much alert this time”
“Must everything be about money?” I replied.
“Why else would you be smiling like a four year old that got his first bicycle?”
“You’re not well, I just got off the phone with Tamuno. I know what you want to say but please hold it until I make an official application for you to be my bestman”
He walked away, I didn’t expect him to take it well. I caught up with him.
“You should have at least had the courtesy to turn me down instead of walking out on me without a word”
KC you are really out of your mind, you want to marry Tamuno? She is not in your league and trust me she isn’t going to give up her flashy life to be with you. You’re a good man but definitely not good enough for her, there are better ladies all around you, why not choose one whose head is calm and go for her?

Tamuno is brightness personified, she smiles and almost everything and laughs her heart out almost every time. She captures every moment with either a selfie or a video and she is almost always happy. Her translucent eyeballs makes me always want to look into eyes and every time I do, I froze in awe.
I met Tamuno a few months back when I was contacted to make pizza deliveries at her apartment, I slightly knocked on the door and in less than no time this bright creature with the most endearing smile opened the door. I froze in awe but I didn’t know how long I did.
I couldn’t get over the moment.
I broke protocols to meet her again and this time I was ready, my gentleman skills didn’t fail me and she looks forward to making more memories with me.
Days and weeks passed, I feel in love at first sight but I needed more time to be convinced, I asked her to be my girlfriend but she declined. I couldn’t take no for an answer and I was convinced she felt the same way. She opened up to me that she was not ready for commitments and the nature of what she does wouldn’t allow her.
She was a night club stripper and I didn’t mind, I was so sure that being with me would definitely change her for the better, I wasn’t particular about making her change but I needed her in my life. She had soon become my addiction.
She agreed reluctantly but warned me that she still wasn’t committed but she would give it a try.
It’s been a year and eight months and unlike other ladies, no pressure to get a ring, no request to move in with me or meet my family or the likes. I wanted to seal the deal badly but I was scared. What if she never changed her mind, what if she isn’t still committed? Tamuno has assured that she loves me and she wants a future with me but her actions proved otherwise.
I loved her still.
My roommate walked in “so when are you proposing to her?”
“Tommorrow” I replied.
“I know you are definitely under a spell, how can you propose to her tomorrow, it’s her birthday man!”
“Exactly why it’s the perfect timing, you know, it’s her day and she would be…….
“Publicly or in private”
“Publicly” I replied.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, you know she isn’t ready and you are having doubts about her commitment to the relationship. Why not ask her permission privately before you go public”
“Nah, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore. Don’t worry, with the way I’ve planned it, she wouldn’t say no”
It was time for me to give a speech and for her to cut her cake.
Tams you are brightness personified and you make everything come alive, you have created your world though not perfect but filled with laughter and smiles and I want to share it with you for the rest of my life.

“Tamuno PLEASE MARRY ME!
She stared at me for a while, tears rolled down her cheeks, she came to me, closed the ring box and said NO!

Lesson learnt from the story; sometimes it's Best to listen to the advice of our friends and those who care about us when it comes to certain issues. This is because they are less emotional about such issues that we are....
