Soccer is definitely more of a drama queen sport. It's doubtful it will ever take hold in the US unless they find a way to break up the play so they can insert commercials somehow. Football, baseball, and basketball, and NASCAR all have deadtime whether it be time outs, time in between innings, pitching changes, pauses between quarters and halftime, etc. Soccer just keeps going so there is no real way to insert 30 second commercials as there is in most other American sports. So until television stops making most of their revenue off of commercials soccer will have difficulty penetrating the US market unless we get a flood of soccer loving immigrants changing the demographic makeup of the country substantially.
