Missed Call

in #fiftywords6 years ago

Megan’s phone vibrated. Lola’s name showed up on the screen. Again. Could she not take a hint?

Sighing, Megan tucked the phone away.

It vibrated again. A voicemail.

“I’m so sorry. I love you.” Lola’s voice cracked. She never cried.

Megan dialled the number. She couldn’t ghost her girl forever.

This is my entry to the 50 Word Challenge, hosted by @jayna. The prompt this week was Ghost.

Thank you so much!

Ah, a wonderful example of what must be the most modern usage of “ghost.” I love this! Very poignant and well written, @alheath. I think we have all ghosted someone at some point — i.e. disappearing and ignoring their attempts to connect with no explanation.

Thank you! I try not to if I can possibly help it, but none of us are perfect.
