Working With Michael Bruce

In the above picture, I am playing around with Michael Bruce (left) on the set of "Scarlet Moon." For those of you who don't know, Michael Bruce was the original guitarist for the Alice Cooper Group. This was before Vincent Furnier took on the name of Alice Cooper as his own. Warren Disbrow and I ran into Michael Bruce at a Chiller Convention in New Jersey. We hit it off right away. He was there with his then girlfriend and a personal manager.

After telling us that he would love to be in the film, he handed me the keys to his hotel room and gave us a time to meet him there. Having never met him before, I was taken aback by the amount of trust he showed in me. At the specified time, Warren and I and a few other people from the film headed up to his hotel room which was in the same building as the convention. As I opened the door to his temporary digs, I realized how much more he trusted me because I saw some very valuable Alice Cooper items laying around as well as a guitar that I would probably have to take a mortgage on to afford.

We did some filming right in his room and also later agreed to meet him at CBGB's to do more filming. Warren had his camera always ready for opportunities like this. Back in these days, I had this answering machine which took micro-cassettes and I actually saved a voice mail Bruce had left for me. I hope I still have that somewhere in storage even though I don't have a device to play it on. Michael Bruce was very down-to-earth and professional despite some of the stories I had read about him.
