The Coco film tells of Miguel's adventures that aspire to become a great singer and musician like his idol, the legendary Mexican musician Ernesto de la Cruz, even though his family forbids Miguel to play music, Coco or Mamá Coco is the name of Miguel's great-grandmother who always hears Miguel's everyday adventures.
Being Mexican, Coco features stories from two different worlds: Land of the Living and Land of the Dead. Miguel and his family came from Santa Cecilia, a fascinating fictional city located in the Land of Living, However, the magical moment caused by Miguel's unplanned action made him the first man to visit the Land of the Dead, also known as Dia de Los Muertos.
Coco is a strong film with Mexican culture and elevates the tradition of Dia de Muertos to honour and recall the memories of family members who have passed away. For most of the time in the film, the two worlds (Land of the Living and Land of the Dead) are two separate worlds but run harmoniously and side by side, On a single day of the year, the two worlds are united in a magical manner described as a great family reunion between the world we know and the world of death, the colourful world, the music, and the happiness.
