Reviewing Movies I Don't Like: Deadpool

If you've been following me for a while now, you have probably noticed that I don't particularly post anything related to the world of superheros; you may have even seen a post like this one that reviews one of the films, explaining why I'm not particularly fond of them.

For the most part, the narrative structure of the films is overly used, lacking creativity, and often boring. There's nothing to leave you in a sense of awe in terms of the writing or general direction of the story, it's mostly just the typical origin story with a slow build-up that introduces villains and leads to a climax scene in which the two fight.

That said, to compare Deadpool to other superhero films isn't all that fair; the film certainly does feel different in terms of its narrative structure, although not by much. I'm willing to give Deadpool a mark for being somewhat unique from the rest.

My problems with the film, however, are its writing. Understandably, the Deadpool character is known for his dialogue; his one-liners and crude humour, but during the film, the dialogue feels a little too forced, and is certainly not going to age well given its pop-culture references. Unfortunately, a lot of those one-liners aren't going to be memorable; you aren't going to look back at the film and remember specifics because it isn't created in that way, it's created to produce a massive income around the release, be forgotten, and then replaced by a series of additional entries to establish a franchise around the character.

It's disappointing, because the R-Rated nature of the film certainly differentiates it from others in the superhero genre; with its action feeling certainly more crafted for an older audience, and not a wide audience of both children and adults.

I'm not sure if I'll ever watch the other films in the soon-to-be Deadpool franchise; I'm not really bothered about their existence, and they'll have to make some changes to change that.

Here's an upvote for a movie that I probably won't like. I'm not a fanboy of Marvel or superhero movies.

The above might be one of the reasons for it but I also didn't grew up with Marvel comics, superhero animated series nor playing with He-man dolls.

Many people recommended this title to me but I just didn't feel like seeing it.

Yup!

I didn't grow up around it majorly, either. None of it appeals to me, but there are rare circumstances in which I'll check something out.

I consider Deadpool to be good at-home entertainment. If you stay indoor at the weekend, get bored and want to laugh at something, then Deadpool's the film for you. (Literally how i ended up watching the film).

That's a good way to describe it.

Good over the weekend, but you'll forget about it shortly after.

never drew my interest neither

I guess it's okay if you quite literally have nothing else to watch.
