I watched "Arrhythmia" in the recent Bangalore International Film Festival and I felt really blessed for picking this film for my viewing. Its a one of those movies that after you watched it you will miss its characters and you feel like going and meeting them. Though, the language is Russian, the emotions were universal. I could see many of the crowd cheering and clapping, because they just witnessed one of the most amazing experiences ever.
The movie is about a married couple Oleg and Katya. Katya is a very serious woman and Oleg is a funny, fragile and gentle hearted person, who takes his life very lightly. One of the interesting thing about Oleg and Katya is that they both are working as physicians in a hospital in their town. Oleg is a gifted and talented physician who can do miracles. Oleg and Katya's relationship will be sinking. On one side Oleg is being careless about life and on the other side Katya wants to reach a certain level in her carrier. This difference in opinion will make them conflict with each other.
I must say the actor who played Oleg in the film Aleksandr Yatsenko did a wonderful job. He is very innocent, funny and we all will fall in love with this guy. He is basically a kid in a grownups body. Katya on the other side seems to be opposite. It looks like she married Oleg, because couldn't find anyone else. She will ask for a break in their relationship. But, Oleg's mind will be messed up after hearing this and this will also effect their work life.
On one side their relationship will be in a turmoil and on the other the side the pressure of being a physicians who has to go through tense situation everyday will make it even more tough. The fact that kept us watching this film is that tension or the curiosity this film created within us. They both come together, they again fight, they come back, again they separate. This and Oleg's non sensical humor will make us all feel for Katya. While she is really trying to give Oleg a chance to prove himself.
There is a scene in this film when Oleg and Katya will fight and Oleg just runs out of the house like a small kid. Katya will try to catch him but he keeps running. Both Katya and Oleg will be in search of meaning in their lives. They them selves will be not sure if they were made for each other, this is a movie about their discovery about how they fell in love in the first place.
I really liked this film because most of the love story end when the boy gets the girl after a lot of struggle. But, there are very less number of films that shows what happens after a film. Because, the real difficulties start after the marriage, the struggle starts when they start living together. This is why I think "Arrhythmia", became the favorite of many film lovers that day.
