The Elephant man (1980) - Lets talk film / The human inside everyone

in #film7 years ago

Today I am going to talk about a movie that had disturbed me for a while, but when reconsidered and watched it again I realized it was a masterpiece. "The Elephant man" directed by David Lynch in the year 1980 talks about John Merrick a highly disfigured man who will be treated by that public like a monster. And who will be kidnapped and be made to work on freak shows. Story like these are never told because of its oddness. But, this is a very brave attempt to show the struggle of a disfigured man living in England.

The person who rescues John is a surgeon named Fredrick Treves, who will take him to examination after seeing him in a freak show. John will be owned by a man called Bytes, who takes him to all the trade shows. Bytes will be treating John like an animal thinking that he is a retard. Finally, Fredrick will manage to take John to a hospital to treat him. And a story of a friendship starts.

The movie will defiantly make you feel the pain of being an outcast. John is really an educated and intelligent man, but his deformity will be making the people around him treat him like an animal. Because of this he looses contact with life.

Fredrick on the other hand will be trying hard to bring back the human that has been trapped inside John. He manages to do it, but again the people around John will try to break him down. This movie shows the dedication of a doctor towards his work.

I think everyone should watch this movie. There are a lot of people around us who are going through the same problems like John and we should be able to treat them like humans. Thank you for reading this post. For more posts and reviews on movies follow me.
