There will be intensity in the living room. Every one will be looking at Ramesh, a young man in his 20s and he will be looking at the floor lost in the deepest corners of himself, sitting on the sofa trying to crumple up the cushion with both of his hands. He breaths out and slowly lift his head up with his eyes closed and his faces the ceiling. Ramesh opens his eyes, and brings his eyes towards the person sitting in front of him. The person sitting in front of him will be sweating his tissue paper in his hand will be wet, but he still wipes his forehead to clear the sweat, his name is John, He will be much older that Ramesh. John will be in his 50s. The rest of the people in the room will be Scarlett, John's wife. Prakash, Ramesh's uncle and Prakask's son Pranav. Everyone else will be having too much to talk with Ramesh, but no one will be having the courage to do it.
Ramesh: Why did you do it?
John: It was the only logical thing to do at that time. Or else he would have lived a life of pain and depression. We tried to contact you. But, we tried to call you. I couldn't have seen my best friend like that. It had to be done.
Ramesh: (Frustrated, But trying to control his anger) Who gave you the rights?
John: From 2 days we've been calling to your phone. It was our call.
Ramesh: I was in Bali, Shit.... I could not believe I got to know about my father's death from facebook.
John: Please relax, everything happened in seconds. I just saw him coming towards me with the news paper and next second.... (John pauses, and his eyes gets filled with tears)
Scarlet, sits next to John trying to comfort him.
John: The.. The truck it just..
Scarlet: John, you don't have to do this.
John: No, Ramesh deserves to know (John takes a deep breath) The truck driver who was drunk ran over him I still remember him smiling a second before the incident. Can I get some water?
Scarlet goes to get water.
Ramesh: (wipes his tears) Who told the doctor to cut the oxygen supply?
Prakash: Its not about who. Ramesh try to understand. The impact was on the brain and had to be bed ridden for the rest of his live stuck to the oxygen. How could we...
Ramesh: How could we what! How could we let him live? Is that what you are trying to say?
Prakash: No... Bu..But.. How can I see the person who was always smiling and cheering everyone up. Lying dead in the bed for the rest of his life?
Ramesh: So, you kill him!
John: Ramesh, please! Don't talk like that!
Scarlet hands John the glass of water.
Ramesh: (cries) I didn't even get to see him when he went.
Scarlet: Don't do this to yourself. Try to understand Ramesh. We will be there for you. We've been seeing you from when you were born. Your father wasn't just a friend he was like a family. You can come to us when ever you want.
Ramesh: Family? Really? and you all killed him.
John: Now don't tell us that again! Who would have taken care of him. You never came to see him. I don't even remember seeing you after you left 2 years ago. You made his life a mess-
Scarlet: John! Stop!
John: You shut up! Tell me Ramesh.. I've had enough! We've been telling you the same thing from past one hour and you are treating us like murders. What do you know about your father? Don't act like you care? I know why you are here!
Scarlet: Ramesh I'm so sorry for this! John! Have you lost it!
John: Darling, you don't come in the middle of this.
Ramesh will be looking at John and there will be an awkward silence in the room.
Ramesh: Get out.
Scarlet: John let's go.
Prakash: Ramesh listen.
Ramesh: You too.. Get out...I said get out!
John: Prakash do you think he is here for his father? My foot!
Prakash: John please..
John: Ramesh why don't you tell us?
Ramesh: Get out!
John: You are here for the property.
Scarlet: John!
Ramesh: Are you fucking kidding me!
Prakash: Please relax, Pranav go close the door.
Pranav closes the front door.
Ramesh: Prakash uncle how can you be so quiet! And John you call yourself my fathers friend? Do you want me to tell what you did to my mom?
Scarlet who will be trying to relax John will suddenly look at Ramesh.
John: Now don't!
Ramesh: I know why mom committed suicide.
Scarlet: What is he saying John?
John: He has gone mad. Ramesh you need to stop!
Prakash: Ramesh please stop.
Scarlet: What is saying? Ramesh tell me.
Ramesh: Why don't you ask your husband.
Scarlet: So, this is why you were hesitating to talk when ever I asked about Ramesh's mother!
John: Darling no! It happened before our marriage.
Ramesh: You killed my mother and you killed my father also.
Prakash: Ramesh!
John: Your mother was a maniac! She was the one who was behind me and she was the one who killed herself when I got married. I was telling everything to your father and your father knew.
Ramesh: How can live like this? Full of lies and greed! The death note told me everything and what did you do? You begged in front of my father to tear it. Aren't you ashamed of yourself.
Scarlet, will be listening to this and her eyes will be filled with tears. In a split second John will grab Ramesh's throat and suddenly Prakash and Pranav will separate them both. John will be breathing heavily with anger.
Scarlet breakdown on the floor. John goes near Scarlet.
John: Darling, It happened twenty years ago.. I regret it completely. That's why I was ready to do anything to his father. That is the reason I treated his father like my own. Darling, I didn't tell you because I did't want to loose you.
Prakash: Ramesh, please sit down and relax.
Ramesh: I am not here for any property.. Tell that to him!
Prakash: Please stop.
John: Then why weren't you here all this time? And you became so busy with your business that you didn't even care to call him. Even when he used to call you, you were ignoring him. Your father sometimes used to cry in front of me talking about your behavior.
Ramesh: I work 18 hours a day! I have a company which I built from scratch. Just because I didn't call him doesn't mean I didn't love him. Even I used to feel guilty about not having time for him. But, I was doing all this for my family.
Scarlet gets up and walks towards the door. John follows Scarlet. Scarlet stops.
Scarlet: John... I'm going to Bangalore. Please, give me some time.
John: Darling... I'm sorry.
Prakash: Ramesh, you need to stop.
Scarlet will walk outside.
John: Wait... I'll come with you
Scarlet: No!
John will be stressed and he goes inside looking for his car keys. Scarlet walk into the lift.
John: Why? Just why? Twenty years. And we have a daughter. How will I face my daughter? Tell me Ramesh.. Tell me..
John find the key and runs out to find Scarlet. Ramesh be angry and he will slowly realize what he just did. Ramesh slowly feels his body becoming heavy and he comes to the floor. Prakash tries to hold him.
John will be outside looking for Scarlet. He will try to call her. but she will not be answering. John gets inside his car and drives out. He will be looking for her, while crying. Scarlet will be no where. There will be a huge number of people gathered around in the middle of the road. John stops the car. He sees a white colored car with a broken wind shield and blood smeared across it. John will slowly get out his car. He walks in towards the crowd to see what are the crowd looking at. Every step he talked he will be feeling weaker and weaker his tears will fall on the ground.
