2017 Came to an end and it gave us an amazing bunch of movies. The following list represents the best of what we saw last year. Remember that since cinema is considered an art, this is totally subjective and you might not agree with it, this is just a personal selection and I hope you enjoy it.

#10: Star Wars - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

I lot has been said about this movie but the truth is this is an outsanding movie. Yes, it has flaws and it drags during a while, but it adds something different to the Star Wars universe and takes risky decissions regarding its characters and its story line.

#9: Okja

This is one of those films that are not only very entreteinig and fun to watch, Okja is also an allegation against capitalism, false marketing and meat consumers.

#8 Spider-Man: Homecoming

A very different Spider-Man movie than the ones we are used to. This one shows our our friend saving cats from trees and assisting elders crossing the street. Not an origin story, but a story about the origin of a young and mature Spider-Man.

#7 First They Killed My Father

The story of a cambodian girl will make your heart raise its beat. It is one of those tragic movies where you feel like you are actually inside the movie and feel what the characters feel.

#6 Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2

The Marvel cinematic universe makes it again in this list and this time with a comedy full of characters that we get to know so much better and so much in depth. Also, an amazing soundtrack makes of this movie one of the best of the year.

#5 Wind River

A story not about a murder, but about a journey of a character who has to deal with an asesination and the memories of his daughter. This movie is a time bomb that builds itself upon a satisfactory ending and even has an important message to tell about native american culture.

#4 Dunkirk

When you thought there could be no more interesting war movies, Christopher Nolan stands up and says "hold my beer". Nolan returns to his origins as a filmaker, offering us a very interesting non-lineal story about WWII.

#3 Logan

The personal story of Logan and the farewell of Hugh Jackman as his iconic character. superhero movies are getting to repetitive and predictive, but Logan shows that this genere can also be art.

#2 Coco

We don't only get to see a beautiful side of mexican culture, but the most creative movie of the year. Coco talks about deep and perhaps dark themes like our own death and the legacy we leave behind.

#1 War For the Planet of the Apes

There is only one word that can describe this master piece: EPIC. It took a long time for the director to get the story builed, but the result was spectacular. Allegories to the bible, westerns and even the hollocaust can be glanced all over the movie. The war is not about an actual war, but a war inside a leader falling apart.
