Like most films I walked into this one blind. The title of it actually made me skip it multiple times. I had no idea what it was about but since it starred Paul Rudd and Jason Segal I presumed it would be a comedy. There are certain really wonderful comic moments in this movie that make me LOL just thinking about them and I would consider it one of my favorite comedies of the past 10 years
Peter Claven (Paul Rudd) is about to get married. Unfortunately he has dedicated his life to getting married and doesn't really have any male friends. He desperately needs to find some to be in his wedding. I will admit this is a completely absurd premise for a film and i think if I worked for the studio it would take a great deal of convincing to get me on board. Anyway, his fiance and his family members set him up on a number of man-dates in the hopes that he will end up getting along with some of the people and a vast majority of them go terribly wrong.
Peter just doesn't like the people he meets or they don't like him because he projectile vomited all over them during a drinking game. It isn't until he accidentally stumbles upon Sydney Fife (Jason Segal) that a real friendship starts to build up.
Sydney is a genuinely cool dude. Much cooler than Peter actually and that is why it makes Peter so nervous to be around him / talk to him on the phone. Their conversations are hilarious because Peter idolizes Sydney for his confidence and freedom in life and all the while Sydney is actually not as comfortable in his own skin as he portrays.
That's basically the overlying premise of the entire film. However, it is filled with great comical moments and plenty of cameos by actors I genuinely like such as Andy Samberg, J.K. Simmons, Jon Favreau, and Thomas Lennon.
This movie was considered a moderate success as it made $50 million - not too shabby. It gets the gooddream stamp of approval
Hiii...gooddream
Great Post with Great Information.
I Love You, Man is a delightful film not just for its brand of humour which worked almost all the time, nor because it stars the bunch of contemporary jokers who have taken Hollywood by storm, but because it had a meaningful story to tell, and has translated that key insight of friendships and relationships for the big screen effortlessly, wrapping up some deep, intrinsic behavioural observation deceptively behind a curtain of laughter.
Like the 40 Year Old Virgin in its quest for a woman to get laid with to pop his cherry, this film works on the reverse in its protagonist's quest for a male friend, since Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) has no problems with female friendship as he's the quintessential ladies man, only that he's about to marry his fiancé Zooey (Rashida Jones). Since the bride has a maid of honour, it's up to Peter to find a balance in a best man, only that he hasn't really had a man friend for the longest time, and so begins a crazy montage of hooking up with casual friends in the hope of striking gold.
It might seem like a hypothetical situation, but as the film progressed, it brings to mind how many of us have friends (male or female) that we sometimes take for granted in knowing that they'll always be there for us. Only a reality check brings up the fact that everyone has their own personal lives to lead, and it wouldn't be nice to impose (mid-life crisis singles, hands up here), especially not with an ulterior motive.
I Love You, Man is an excellent story on friendship, and what makes friendship tick. For that and its healthy dose of comedy, and a great spin on the tired romantic-comedy genre
Touching movie and with a very good lesson: Enjoy life in the now and in its fullness. It's a sad and a lovely story. I'm crying so much after watched the film. My dream city turkey and i loved it.
this movie is nice..👍🏻
wonderful movie. up-voted , followed and resteemed.
No matter how women advocate equality of the sexes, in one, angelic creatures and we will always be different. In relation to friendship. Male friendship is something inexplicable, but understandable to every creature, shaving in the morning face. We meet together to watch football, to have a beer, to discuss cars, video games and an open dress of "that chick on the right", and sometimes just keep silent, inhaling cigarette smoke or admit each other in real, male love, accompanying it with existential statements about meaning of life.
It's no wonder that the ladies cannot understand why we are ranting something that none of us understand, but terribly gay. Male friendship is often stronger and more important than family ties. It's like a mafia, only without the kisses of the ring and contract killings.
Naturally, when a man has no friend (friend, friend, neighbor), then he has serious problems. Gustily funny and (which rarely happens), a clever comedy prepares male relationships. And this is the first romantic comedy, which is worth watching first of all to a man.
A kind, funny comedy for viewing and one, and with friends, and even with the family. After it, you may want to hug someone from your family and say: "I Love You Man". :)
Excellent film, great review. Love Paul Rudd & Jason Segel. Two of my favorite actors in hollywood.
I watched it, funny and romantic
The movie is the bomb
Great movie! The humor in it doesn't feel pushed, which I liked. Nice one on the review.
