Spring Update

in #finland7 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, when I was driving home after having picked up my daughter from school, we drove past the same field I've taken photos of in the past few and in the winter. The grass is green on it. A tunnel will be built under the field. The roadworks you see in the pictures have something to do with the tunnel. One of them workers told me the building of the tunnel begins in June.

Looking green already. The field is used by football players.

That gravel was brought for heavy vehicles for some purpose. I don't know much about tunnel construction.

Gardening has begun. The snow is completely gone from our property. The lawn is has started to grow. I just finished digging the lawn in front of the playhouse for planting flowers there.

Our backyard.

I suppose you have to make the most of summer. I have seen your photos of winter and I am sure you all look forward to the sunny weather. The tunnel sounds interesting. Any idea what it is going to be used for.

It's part of the southern bypass road.

It seems another very different place without the snow, it's like magic. What kind of tunnel is it?

It's a road tunnel.

Oh, okay. I thought it was an oil pipeline or gas or something

Finally, some green lush!
I am sure you have enjoyed gardening.

It's still mostly ahead. It's raining now.

I love winter a lot! That feeling when you're enveloped in a blanket and just started having sweet dreams :))) LOL That's soOOooo Cool xD and then suddenly mother comes and says , "Wake up, It's already 7.00 am! You've to go to school as well! " Noooo!!!!!! I wanted to sleep more.....And all you desires are washed away!!!!!!!! Sad :((( hahaha! That's amazing but really horrible when you've to go to your school So you (reluctantly) get up from the bed and your siblings are sleeping with their small heads on the pillow! Just because you're elder and have less winter vacation but your younger sis and bro are having plenty of them!
That's really a pity .

I know that feeling. Waking up early in the morning used to be hard for me, too. It gets easier when you age.

yea.................. u are right

I think I get to see your backyard but very covered in snow recently, true! .. I was different but just as nice.

It is much smaller and close to the street. All we ever do in it is pass through it from the street to the front door.

Man you live at a great place, the view and the backyard ....i would love to party all night in your backyard......

This area has a lot of families with kids. Some of them are teenagers. But I haven't heard anyone throw a garden party. We'll see what happens in the summer.

Partying is the best part that this garden can have....
Call me in when yiu throw a party...🌝

Let's see what are the plans of the authorities to build the tunnel, hope for the best.

PS: If this is the view of your backyard, then i am sure the front side must be full of green plants all over.

The front side is in the shade. There is a porch, the front door and a driveway and a narrow stretch of lawn.

Is gardening something you do every year or is it a new project this year? because if every time after winter you have to plant everything, I couldn't do, it is too much dedication , I ask this because I don't know anything about winter. Very nice in sky by the way the electrical towers kill a little the vibes, but sunny.

:D

We just moved here in January. My wife is the gardener. I just do some of the heavy lifting. The previous owners were not that into tending this garden.

Some plants are perennial and you don't have to plant them every spring. Some are not.

Sorry @markkujantunen I took the liberty to alter a photo of you and I just realized I didn't ask for your permission if you want to remove it right now

I didn't mind at all. But it's good that you noticed that, which reminds me of maybe needing to decide which license I should publish the photos under. They are published on Flickr with all rights reserved by default.

is that I recently read that smugmug acquires Flickr, and one of the things that they was going to improve was the rights of the owners of the photos, I don't care much because my pics have no commercial value but for other people they can think differently.

It is possible for anyone to accidentally take a good photo, although the odds may vary.

I like spring . It's really a season that makes my mind fresh . Hope you also like spring most . Am i right ?

No. Summer is my favourite season.

You live in Bangladesh? You have a wet season and a dry season. Right? Between the dry and relatively cool season and the wet season there is a time when the weather gets hotter and hotter until the monsoon rains start. Then it's hot and humid until the rains die down. That's when the dry season gradually begins. It never gets very cold by our (= high mid latitudes) standards.

We have four distinct seasons here. I don't particularly like the spring. It is dusty, dirty and ugly. The only saving grace of the spring is the increasing light and the approaching summer.

No Brother. We have 6 season and every season have different from one another . But for globalization changed some our nature now. You are quite right . Our lowest temperature 3 degree c. It's not so cold than your .

Very interesting. Could you describe the six seasons, please? Do you live somewhere near the coast or somewhere further north?

Summer (grisma) Comprises Baishakh and Jyaistha (mid-April to mid-June) :
the two Bangla calendar months, when days are hot and dry.The Bengali year begins with summer

The rainy season (barsa) Traditionally spreads over Asadh and Shraban (mid-June to mid-August):
However, the rainy season may start from the end of Baishakh and last up to the beginning of Kartik (mid-May to late-October). During the rainy season, the southwest monsoon winds bring plenty of rainfall (70 to 85 percent of the annual total) and occasionally lasting for days without end without any respite.

Autumn (sharat) Lasts during Bhadra and Ashvin (mid-August to mid-October). This is traditionally the season when housewives put out clothes, musty and damp because of the rains, to air and dry in the hot sun of Bhadra. However, the bright day is often punctuated by sudden showers.

Late autumn (hemanta) The fourth season, covers Kartik and Agrahayan (mid-October to mid-December). Actually it is a transitional phase between autumn and winter. By mid-November the evenings grow cool

Winter (shit) The fifth season and the colder part of the year, in contrast to Summer, the hotter. According to the Bangla calendar it spreads over the months of Paus and Magh (mid-December to mid-February). But practically, November through February is the winter season in Bangladesh.

The spring (basanta) The last of the seasons occurs between winter and summer, spreads over the Bangla months Phalgun and Chaitra (mid-February to mid-April). The spring season is very brief in Bangladesh and practically prevails during March only. During this season, winds are variable in direction because this is the time of transition between the northerly or northwesterly winds of winter and the southerly or southwesterly winds of summer.

Thanks a lot. I read an article in the Dhaka Tribune that said that monsoon rains last longer than they used to and that the winter is shorter nowadays.

Your January is actually a lot like our July. The average daily maximum seemed to be 25 C in Dhaka and the minimum was 12 C. It happens that in southern Finland, the average July daily maximum is about 23 C and the daily minimum is 12 C. Even the average monthly rainfall was similar.

Yes, right brother . Our winter is very short .
Brother, you invite you to visit Bangladesh . It's really a country that has a great beauty . Come please and enjoy some days with us .

Nice pictures, this gave me a sense of calm. Thanks :)

Hooray Spring! Sunshine and smiles! :D

The place looks so amazing and beautiful.
