Operation Unstucking a Snow Pusher from Ice

in #finland7 years ago (edited)

The tip of the snow pusher is stuck in ice to a depth of about 4-5 cm.

I brought a litre or so of boiling water to make it easier to unstuck the snow pusher without breaking it.

The hot water is now melting the ice.

It came off quite easily with the ice softened a bit.

The ice you're seeing is the result of snowmelt from the roof freezing again when not exposed to the sun. The air temperature is close to zero now and it is snowing. We're going to need the snowpusher probably tomorrow. The downpipe coming from the rain gutter/eavestrough/eaves channel is frozen shut. It is too late to install heating cables this spring but I'm definitely doing it before next winter. New snow is accumulating onto the roof.

Snow, no matter how amazing it is has it's downsides.

Its time to pay back to you, okay out ofnthe topic question (usually, where do you lease steem power from?, I don't know whom to ask, since you're here for awhile :D)

"gamer00 delegate 250.476 SP to sriz" Jaro @gamer00, oh man. you're so kind . I'm really touched by your support :o :( . I literally run out of words. so please do let me know how much do I owe you :) , Kiitos kiitos paljon, even though in winter time I feel so down/moody but my finnish friends are very supportive and helpful, that's one of the reason I'm still able to live in the country cause its the people who makes the difference to forget about bad things in life ,and you guys are another example x

I've never leased it but I think Minnowbooster is one option.

Okay, tried it from the same dealer but have to wait 3 days and still no guarantee yet, so I used block trades and seeing how its gonna be like. But if you get to know anywhere with good deals please give me a shout :D x

I'm also trying to understand the perfect price for delegation, when I need it.
I tried to buy it but failed.

With the power of science, you destroyed the obstacle and emerged victorious.
Horaay. Next mission is to freeze it back!

If you ever end up installing those heating cables please blog about it. I have been thinking the same and would love to see how you do it. Stuff like how deep below ground etc.

Snow snow snow, it's everywhere on steemit platform, well I love when it snows untill it doesn't create problems and when it starts to create it tortures like hell, pain in the ass. You too are going through the same thing.

What I'm hoping is that when the thaw begins the eaves channels on the south side of the house that are now filled with ice would not overflow and wet any part of the eaves. They will dry, of course, but I will really have to install heating cables to the downpipes to prevent them from being blocked by ice in the future.

I hope this will not happen

You could had tried winding torn jute bags around the pipes. It does work. I have seen it work in my homeland... We also face such harsh winters but we got our own methods.

The downpipes are open at both ends. Their purpose is to lead rainwater and snowmelt collected from the roof to the eaves channels down to the ground level and further into underground pipes leading the water away from the property in a controlled manner. Insulating them from the outside would do no good.

Ohh my mistake i just didn't got it first time. I was with the sanitation pipes and water pipes... It seems to be a problem... Don't you have an attachment to it from where it can be opened. pouring hot water from the opening of attachment will for sure help.

We have never had a problem with freezing water pipes or sewers. Yes, I could pour hot water to the eaves channels but there is simply too much ice for it to be worth it.

snow brings with it lots of hectic things too, in order to enjoy snow you must take some pain too...

You should have peed on it ...easy peasy..😜

I do not urinate in my own back yard. Also, melting ice takes a lot of energy. It's a lot quicker to do it with water near boiling temperature than with water near body temperature.

You seem to be man with hard rules..😕

I'm not going to start pissing in my driveway in broad daylight to please some strangers on the Internet. :D It's different if I'm in the woods or in a park somewhere and nature calls with no public toilets in sight.
