Pakkopulla is a very common colloquial word in Finnish. It literally means obligatory pulla.
A Finnish pulla
Pulla is a cardamom flavored sweet roll. The simplest and the most common type is like in the above picture but without the star on top. The prefix pakko means "obligatory". Generally pakkopulla means a task that one is loath to but must do, a formality one does not enjoy. The origin of this expression is in the custom of enjoying a pulla or a slice of the long version of pulla before taking a slice of cream cake. Going straight for the cream cake is considered a sign of bad manners. Ministers of the church are probably more familiar with the literal kind of pakkopulla than they would like. At all funerals, weddings and other such occasions coffee and pulla are always served. Especially younger ministers who have not yet developed high tolerance for caffeine must be having constant tremors from excessive caffeine. Finland has the highest coffee consumption per capita in the world.
At the time of writing my comment is 7:15 in the morning, and seeing the picture of Pakkopulla, I was very hungry so I will prepare breakfast for everyone, although my daughters and my wife are sleeping.
As for coffee, I only take coffee twice a day in the morning at breakfast and then at three in the afternoon.
a question, is that similar to a bread but sweet?

If it is obligatory to eat a sweet like that, I would eat them all.
And not leave any room for cream cake? Often pakkopulla is dry and stale, which is why few people like it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fresh pulla. I remember eating about 40 of them in one sitting together with a cousin of mine when visiting our grandparents.
Haha it's true!
My friend, for any Venezuelan this sweet will like a lot. I assure!
This Finnish For Foreigners is a great post idea! Can't wait for the sequels. :)
I had no idea that Finland was so hot on coffee.
the first image before opening the publication looked like a well-cooked chicken
I've been living in Finland for a couple of month a few years ago and Pulla are one of the things I really miss about Finland <3
