Firewood burning if blown grows larger fire, but the flame of a candle if blown off.

Burning requires oxygen. When the wood gets oxygen, the wood burns bigger. In the candle, the cold air we breathe will cool the wax around the axis. Due to the decrease in temperature, the axis does not burn anymore.
