Friday Fish Stories: Fish Embellishment

in #fishing6 years ago

In today’s post, I wanted to let you in on a little secret – sometimes the fish isn’t as big as it looks!

I have many fishing stories from times I go out kayak fishing, but in this post I wanted to show you a small fish that looks pretty big… it’s all about perspective!

On the kayak, you have lot of opportunities for fish “selfies”. Depending on the way you shoot the picture, the fish can look substantially different in size… let me show you what I mean:

As you can see, the first picture is taken with the fish close up, the second picture is putting the fish on the side of my head, and the third is a more realistic picture of the fish being held in front of me. Even though the fish looks different sizes, it is the same fish, just with the different camera angles!

I caught and released this particular Spotted Bay Bass while kayak fishing on the ocean.... Sure is a pretty fish!

So next time you see a picture of a big fish close up, ask yourself, is there some camera work at play or is the fish actually that size!

Thanks for visiting!
Brian

Here’s the real way to tell if a fisherman is lying, check to see if his lips are moving!

This is hilarious. I am gonna have to do this with my next bass.

Ha ha ha, that was great! Thanks for giving us a realistic look into what can happen with fishing stories. I guess it's good I wasn't going to post pics of any fishing adventures because now people would know what I was trying to do. :)

It's great magic of different camera angles. The 2nd picture looks original size of the beautiful fish but others are really different. It seems that you are showing 3 different size of fish. If you don't tell us then many of us don't understand that you are showing the same fish with different camera angle.

Hi @brian.rrr
That's a good fish catch. How heavy is the fish?

That is absolutely hilarious!!!! You can do some cool things with camera angles. I have finally been able to get our fishing a few times now that school is out and it has been a great start to the fishing season. I don't normally do this but I just actually made my first dtube video and it was of the fishing day I had last Friday. I would love your feedback if you find the time to check it out. Got some good size Northern Pike that day.

Awesome, I will go check it out! Glad you have some free time to get out there!

For sure camera work and angles come into play whenever we capture and literally camera brings that illusion aspect in light.

And for sure these pictures are fun to explore because for sure in first picture that fish is reflecting really huge and literally it's giving an effect that you caught an huge fish.

But, in reality that fish is small and camera angles and camera work played it's role effectively to come up differently in every capture.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed 🙂
