Hello my lovely Steemians! I've been away for a couple of months because I've been super busy with TwitterGetsFitter, my online fitness venture. It has been going super well, and thankfully, so has my own personal fitness journey. :) I thought I'd share updates on my journey, in the hopes that it may provide some much-needed motivation to whoever needs it.
I'd like to start by sharing a picture I'm very proud of and excited by.
On the left, is me at the start of my fitness journey. That was my lowest point, and while I'm smiling in the picture, don't be fooled -- I was very ill, in chronic pain, depressed, and miserable. I remember seeing myself in this picture, and bursting out crying.
This was worse because I used to be very fit. As a professional dancer, it came with the territory. This was me at peak fitness, only a few years ago.
But Life throws curveballs every now and then, doesn't it? My health took a bad turn, and within months, I was almost bedridden. I suffered horrible pain every single day, and the only respite came in the form of painkillers. I'm sad to admit I popped them like sugar candy, but I honestly had no other option.
Then one day, I took to social media, to ask people to buddy up so we can become fitter together. Little did I know, that one tweet would start a revolution! That was the beginning of TwitterGetsFitter, and what is now India's first online fitness movement.
As I helped these 400+ enthusiastic souls reclaim their fitness, I managed to find in them, the motivation to do so myself. Every day, as I hunted for good workouts to share with them, I found myself trying every exercise to make sure it was good enough for my tribe.
The change was slow, but noticeable. I found myself with more energy, and improved moods. A few months later, a genius doctor diagnosed my problem, and suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel. Following a major surgery which completely eliminated my health problems, I was a new woman.
I was no longer in pain every waking moment. My hormones normalised. I could walk and run again. I was happier.
And that last point made all the difference! I was happier. And that fuelled me to continue.
Today, a little more than a year later, I can confidently say that I am transformed -- inside and out!
And as 2018 rolls around, I can't wait to get better, and to help more people do the same.
Congratulations! I don't know which to congratulate you on first, finding a knowledgeable doctor, creating a first in social media, regaining your own fitness, or managing a large tribe and moving them to succeed !! So much great news!
Thank you, @marillaanne! It feels so great to have been able to do all this. A lot of it was just the Universe being kind (like finding the right doctor, and the support of so many people), and so much was an amount of hard work I never thought I was capable of. Hope to do much more, and help anyone else who might today be going through what I did a year ago.
